POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for assisting our Department of Investigations with confidential and highly sensitive investigations related to players, umpires, and baseball personnel as directed.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Investigate allegations related to domestic violence, sexual assault, gambling, performance-enhancing substances, and other violations of baseball rules and policies that affect the integrity of the game Conduct interviews throughout the United States and in the Dominican Republic, and occasionally in other countries Draft detailed investigative reports, interview summaries, and other documentation related to significant investigations, and edit the written work product of others Review and analyze English and Spanish language documents, text messages, emails, and legal filings Work with analysts to gather and analyze publicly available information, including government records, social media, and news reports Liaise with local, state, and federal law enforcement entities about ongoing investigations Assist with reporting hotline management, including maintaining vendor relationships and issue response Conduct legal research Assist Clubs with certain internal investigations Provide legal support to other MLB departments as neededREQUIREMENTS
Fluency in Spanish (oral and written) required J.D. and a minimum of 5 years of legal experience required Significant experience in investigations required; prosecutorial or similar background preferred This position is based in New York City and requires in-office attendance at least four days per week Strong oral and written communication skills; must be an excellent writer Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint Ability to manage deliverables with time-sensitive deadlines Intermittent domestic and international travel required, at times on short noticePer the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $235,000 - $265,000.
