As a member of the Capri legal team, you will be responsible for providing legal guidance and advice on commercial, technology and privacy matters to Capri and it’s three iconic brands, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and mitigating privacy-related risks for the organization.  You will work closely with cross-functional teams including digital marketing, data analytics, information technology and security, e-commerce and retail operations to support tech, digital marketing and privacy initiatives across the group.

What You’ll Do:

Provide legal advice and support to the business on the implementation of new technologies (including use of artificial intelligence), digital marketing and data analytics activities.  Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts (including technology, digital marketing, tracking technologies and analytics, data processing agreements and other retail related contracts).Identify and assess compliance and privacy risks and opportunities relating to consumer-facing advertising and technology matters.  Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to find ways to address issues in practical ways and ensure compliance with company’s policies and applicable laws.Advise the organization and make recommendations on compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations in the U.S. and Canada, including U.S. state laws, such as CPRA, and PIPEDA, ensuring policies and practices align with applicable legal requirements and partner with regional counterparts on privacy and data protection matters outside North America, including for example, GDPR and PIPL.Support with the ongoing development and implementation of the company’s privacy strategy and program, including but not limited to:Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and update records of processing activitiesAssist in managing responses to data subject requests (DSRs), including requests for access, correction, and deletion of personal data, in accordance with privacy lawsAssist with internal investigations and responses to data breaches or privacy incidentsDevelop or enhance privacy related policies and notices (including customer and employee notices, data breach response and retention policies) working in collaboration with the company’s employment counsel for employee dataManage the inbox of the Privacy Office, including responding to questions and complaints receivedAdvise internal clients across brands and regions with respect to the company’s privacy obligations and to identify and mitigate key data privacy risks associated with the collection and handling of employee and customer personal data.

You’ll Need to Have:

Juris Doctorate or educational equivalentAdmission and member in good standing of the bar of New York3-7 years of experience practicing law at a law firm, in-house legal position or both with focus on consumer technology, advertising privacy and cybersecurityProven ability to be pro-active and able to work independently to identify privacy, consumer and business risks, analyze problems and provide viable solutionsExcellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skillsAbility to work under pressure, handle deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high- performance environmentFlexibility to work in office when needed (hybrid schedule)One or more certifications in data privacy is a nice-to-have (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPP/C, CIPP/A, CIPT, CIPM, FIP). CIPM and or CIPP/E certification(s)

Compensation Range: 

$175,000.00-$190,000.00
