Senior Legal Counsel

A bit about the job:
As Senior Counsel, you will provide expert legal guidance on commercial insurance policy wordings, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards while supporting Aviva’s business needs. You will be embedded within the Technical Underwriting team, collaborating with underwriters and other stakeholders to develop, review, and refine policy documentation.
This role is key to supporting Aviva’s Global Corporate Specialty (GCS) growth, ensuring that our policy wordings meet evolving market and regulatory requirements. You will also engage with external legal advisors where necessary and contribute to best practices in policy documentation.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Qualified lawyer with experience in drafting, reviewing, and managing commercial insurance policy wordings.
Strong knowledge of FCA, Lloyd’s, and overseas regulatory requirements related to insurance contracts.
Ability to collaborate with underwriters, brokers, and external partners to negotiate and refine policy documentation.
Experience working with a variety of insurance products distributed in the UK and globally.
Knowledge of Financial Lines and London Market wordings (desirable but not essential).
