Where You Will Work    

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. As a Hybrid employee, you will collaborate primarily virtually anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded based on business factors. Occasionally, you may be required to attend in-person meetings at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration.  In-person attendance may vary based on the position and department requirements.

Description

Provides legal advice and policy guidance, both directly and working with outside counsel, to the company. Independently performs projects, including transactions, investigations and litigation, vital to company operations. Routinely assists in and occasionally handles or supervises specialized, complex matters. Works collaboratively with members of the Legal and Government Relations team in providing advice and counsel to company personnel and developing legal strategy. Provides advice and suggestions to less-experienced attorneys. Provides support to a diverse, global client group, focusing on health and safety (MSHA/OSHA), commercial and those specific areas of the law as may be assigned from time to time. 

Provide, directly and working with outside counsel, legal advice and policy guidance in areas of the law relating to company’s operating sites with an initial focus on the company’s US sites.Provide, directly and working with outside counsel, legal advice and assistance relating to the company’s commercial arrangements, including joint venture relationships, land and water matters, and intellectual property rights, as well as assistance in evaluating potential acquisition, divesture and other transactions.Provide, directly and working with outside counsel, legal advice and assistance relating to health and safety matters (MSHA/OSHA), including defense of federal and state regulatory investigations and enforcement actions.Provide Legal Department management and clients with risk analyses, project updates and periodic reports as may be required.Perform other duties as requested.Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

JD degree or international equivalent, with exceptional academic credentials and nine years of experience practicing law requiredHealth and safety (MSHA/OSHA) experienceMember of a state bar association (admitted to practice) or international equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Extensive experience with international mining operationsCollaborative; strategic thinker
