As a part of the credit delivery team, participate in the origination, management, and credit approval process for the commercial loan portfolio, in accordance with Trustmark’s lending philosophy, loan policy and procedures, and credit risk appetite, while meeting the Region’s or Line of Business (LOB) loan growth expectations and loan quality standards.

Responsibilities Using a team approach, be actively engaged in the timely selection, review, vetting, structuring and decisioning of all commercial credit opportunities within the assigned Region(s) or Lines of Business, both within and above individual loan authoritySelect and elevate to the appropriate commercial vetting session, larger credit opportunities that fit Trustmark’s credit policy, lending philosophy and credit risk appetiteWhere appropriate, engage the Regional Senior Credit Officer in larger or more difficult credits that need either a second opinion or RSCO support in moving forward or decliningWhere needed, give guidance to the structuring & underwriting of commercial loans (which are market responsibilities), and review the underwriting for basic completeness and accuracyIf applicable, cross-train, develop and lead a team of associates (including Credit Officers) in the commercial credit delivery effort to promote maximum productivity, engagement, succession planning and overall contribution to the strategic organizational goalsAuthor SCOs “Key Issues and Mitigants” in LPMs headed to Senior Loan CommitteesTimely identification of problem credits and risk rating adjustments (both down and up) within the assigned portfolios. Participation in the ongoing process to manage past-dues, matured loans, documentation exceptions, and quarter-end portfolio-related activitiesEvaluate the bank’s position and exposure on problem loan relationships and either approve action plans within designated loan authority, or co-author detailed pro-active action plans on problem creditsAt the direction of the Chief Credit Officer, assume direct management of certain large, complicated, or problematic problem loan relationshipsResponsible for monthly monitoring of loans more than $100M and over 30 days past due and all non-accrual loans over $100MActive participation in CQR committees, and voting member of Commercial Loan committees if required by the Chief Credit OfficerCustomer meetings and/or calls as needed to accurately evaluate related creditPerform additional duties / special projects as may be requested or assigned. Qualifications Minimum seven (7) years commercial lending and/or commercial credit approval experience, or loan review experience, including direct experience in the LOB, if designated a LOB Senior Credit OfficerFour-year college degree in finance, accounting, or business administrationThorough understanding of bank regulations, Trustmark policies & procedures and Trustmark’s Loan PolicyLoan documentation and collateral knowledgeLoan structuring, underwriting and analysis skillsNegotiation skills, communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skillsLoan system knowledgeComputer skills – Word, Excel, & PowerPointExperience as a Special Loans Officer or Loan Review Officer preferredBankruptcy, liquidation, litigation experience preferredFive or more years as a commercial lender preferredFive or more years in a commercial credit approval role preferred

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:  Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.
