Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking an innovative editor to curate its journalism for distribution on external platforms, including Apple News and Google News Showcase. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of news distribution, strong editorial judgment and a proactive attitude in creating curated packages that reach and engage audiences on and off-site.
Responsibilities:
Create compelling news snippets and packages that distill complex stories and provide entry points that bring readers to The Post's owned and operated platforms.
Apply critical thinking and attention to detail in editing, including fast and accurate work on breaking news alerts.
Collaborate with desks across the newsroom to deliver the most essential and compelling stories to our distributed platforms.
Monitor metrics and analytics to assess effectiveness and optimize strategies for audience engagement.
Partner with newsroom audience strategy teams to understand insights that will drive engagement and reach.
Help to maintain strong relationships with external partners.
Lead a team of curation editors, providing guidance and support to drive success.
Preferred qualifications:
At least five years of experience in digital media with a track record of success in content curation and distribution.
Eagerness to experiment and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Leadership experience, including managing teams and driving results in a fast-paced environment.
A keen ability to parse audience data and analytics and apply it to curatorial decisions.
This position is based in our Washington, D.C., newsroom and will require some night and weekend shifts.

The salary range for this position is: $109,200.00 — $182,000.00. The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
