Senior Dam Safety Engineer

We are seeking a Professional Engineer to join our Waterway Structures team as a Senior Dam Safety Engineer to facilitate project tasks and meet established deadlines with minimal direction in accordance with engineering best practices. This position is listed in the state of New York, with the expectation of all interested candidates working out of our Buffalo, Rochester, Binghamton, Newburgh, Albany, Valhalla or New York, NY offices! Responsibilities + Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. + Prepare advanced engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy. + Utilize advanced techniques, theories and practices to complete assignments. + Design and review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance. + Develop and apply new and/or improved techniques, processes, etc., for designing engineering plans. + Analyze and interpret data, formulate and solve problems. + Prepare or review scopes of work and budgets, and schedule assignments. + Prepare proposals to provide professional services. + Provide direction to engineers, technicians and administrative staff. + Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work. + Represent the organization in a variety of ways as an expert on engineering assignments. + Work within AutoCAD Civil 3D and alongside the design team managers to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines. + Perform field investigations/ site visits as needed. + Design/Draft an advanced structural task with no guidance. + CAD base map work including plans, profiles, sections. + Perform structural calculations on an advanced project with no guidance. + Apply sound knowledge of Structural Codes (IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, AISC, AASHTO) to design. + Exhibit sound wood and masonry design skills. + Apply structural software (Enercal, Staad, Ram) to project Perform general inspections on own, write report for review with Supervisor. + Prepare specifications. + Organize and compile deliverables for a multi-discipline milestone submission with supervision. Qualifications + Bachelors degree in Structural, Civil, Hydraulic/Hydrologic is required. + 8-10+ years of experience in Water Structural Engineering required. + Professional Engineer (PE) preferred in New York State. + Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions. + Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other related software. + Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite). + Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge. + Demonstrate extensive, diversified and complex knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices. + Demonstrate advanced investigative, analytical and research skills. + Ability to effectively perform as a key team member/role model member (demonstrate collaboration and respect for others; contribute; lead by example, etc.). + Demonstrate advanced technical and nontechnical writing, editing and proofreading skills.
