Senior Data Analyst (Analytics) - Intermediate

The Senior Data Analyst as part of the Data Analysis Chapter plays a key role in the day to day management of Equifax’s core data assets developed to support our product offerings to the market. Playing a key role in the team's Data Steward responsibilities they will work closely with product, sales, IT, analytics and data acquisition to drive data quality and coverage of each data asset to be market leading.

The Senior Data Analyst will perform in-depth analysis to drive data quality improvements of their allocated data assets in alignment with the product team’s strategic recommendations. They will also act as an SME across the business for their allocated data asset while producing data quality reports for these data assets.

The Senior Data Analyst will also assist in the transformation of Equifax's credit exchanges from on-premises to the Google Cloud Platform. This includes supporting the migration of core data assets across all value streams, from ingestion to keying and linking to journaling and to purposing for downstream consumption.  The Senior Data Analyst will also contribute to establishing the operationalization model within the new platform and provide ongoing data stewardship support.



What you’ll do

Data Asset SME

A key Data Steward responsibility is to be the SME for the allocated Data Assets

Gathering detail knowledge of what Data Asset contains, how it can be used and where it is used.

Acting as a day to day Data Asset owner, “If you don’t know the answer, you own the process of finding out who does”

Documenting information and processes

Sharing knowledge both within team and across the business

Ensuring the metadata repository is up-to-date and accurate

Responding to day to day queries while driving strategic Data Asset growth

Strategic DQ Improvements

Carry out proactive R&D analysis of Data Assets identifying areas for strategic Data Quality improvements

Develop and present new opportunities found in the Data Quality space

Critically review the output of analysis, report on data quality issues, and generate insights.

Measuring impacts of improvement and driving implementation

Working with Product teams to drive funding for Data Quality improvements

Act as SME with IT teams as Data Quality improvements are implemented

Conduct data analysis, produce outputs and report on Data Quality improvements

Design and implement new analysis processes through greater standardisation, speed, simplicity or automation.

Develop a high level of skill in the core software packages required to perform data quality analysis

Develop and demonstrate a high level of skill in the core software packages required to perform analysis such as SAS, R, Python, Tableau and SQL

Tactical DQ Reviews

Responding to BAU to queries about data assets inc. - Why did this input match to this file? What does this mean?

Providing support for consumer complaints process by detailing lineage of Data Assets

Investigating data issues identified - What, Why, How fixed, Who will fix it, Who needs to know, Who will it impact

Converting tactical activity into a strategic project if applicable

DQ Reporting

Establishing regular, relevant, publishable data quality reports for all assets

To include - Business facing high level reports & In-depth team only analysis

Sales Consulting/POC’s

Consulting to product teams for non-standard uses of datasets

Co-ordinate with internal stakeholders in order to develop data quality/data usage             solutions that meet customer requirements.

Recommend solutions to the organisation to increase revenue, reduce expenses, improve operational efficiency and data quality.

Engage Equifax clients directly to present/discuss Data Quality projects and provide on-going client communication of issues and resolutions.

Demonstrate an understanding of client business objectives, recommending new or improved solutions based on client needs

Data Acquisition Reviews/Testing

Analysing the impact/value of potential new data sources

Defining requirements in consultation with Data Acquisition and Data Exchanges

Perform UAT testing for new dataset implemented to Data Assets

Linking Strategy Support

Implement processes to link Data Assets to all other relevant Data Assets in line with the Linking Strategy 

Drive linking improvements to increase coverage/quality

Providing input into linking strategy

Legal & Compliance

Understanding L&C regulations for your data asset

Contributing to Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) process as Product require new uses for existing or new data assets

Support standardisation of data policies and procedures

Product and Service Knowledge

Look to identify areas of opportunity/improvement within Equifax’s Product and Service offering, it is expected that you will challenge and share your thoughts regarding the opportunities to management

Develop an understanding of the full product and service offering available through Equifax as well as the market dynamics and requirements within the Data Quality space

Market Knowledge and Awareness

Maintain a broad understanding of prime industry sectors: Financial, Communications, Utilities and Retail.

Share relevant knowledge with others to encourage any potential mutual benefits across project teams.

What experience you need

BS degree in a STEM major or equivalent discipline

4+ years of analytical experience in the finance/banking industry or similar.

Excellent interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to relate on all levels through the organisation.

Demonstrates technical competence and business acumen.

What could set you apart

Experience with data visualisation software packages, e.g. Tableau

Experience with Comprehensive Credit Reporting

Understanding of Equifax or similar products

Experience with data visualisation and data story telling.

Statistical skills (advanced statistics or analysis techniques).

Knowledge and in-depth understanding of relational database management systems

Demonstrated experience and competency using SQL and at least one of the following: SAS, R, Python, Java, or similar with cloud-based data platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).

High level of attention to detail.

Ability to work independently on complex and demanding projects.

A willingness to learn new applications and systems.

Skills in most MS Office applications

Strong numeracy skills.

Ability to organise tasks and manage time to consistently meet deadlines.

Encourage and actively partake in knowledge sharing and process improvement

Ability to communicate complex analytic findings to non-technical audience
