Position: Senior Data Analyst - Finance

Job Description:

Forward Air is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Analyst – Finance to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in data analysis, Power BI, and Excel to build insightful financial dashboards and reports. You will play a key role in transforming complex financial data into actionable insights that drive business decisions, streamline processes, and improve financial performance.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze large sets of financial data to extract key insights and trends, supporting the finance team in making data-driven decisions Dashboard Development: Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI, providing real-time data visualizations for key financial metrics Excel Expertise: Utilize advanced Excel functions and formulas (including VBA, Pivot Tables, Power Query) to support financial analysis and reporting Financial Data Management: Manage, clean, and consolidate financial data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting Collaboration with Finance Team: Work closely with senior finance managers and stakeholders to understand their reporting needs, ensuring dashboards and reports meet their requirements Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in financial reporting and analysis workflows Forecasting & Budgeting Support: Provide data-driven insights to assist in financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis Ad Hoc Analysis: Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting as required to support the finance team and leadership in decision-making

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in data analysis, with a focus on finance or accounting Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Strong proficiency in Power BI for developing and maintaining complex financial dashboards and reports Expertise in advanced Excel functions such as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Power Query, and experience using Excel for financial modeling Strong understanding of financial concepts, budgeting, forecasting, financial statements, and key performance indicators (KPIs) Hands-on experience utilizing FP&A tools and ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle to streamline financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes Skilled in configuring, integrating, and optimizing these platforms to enhance data accuracy, improve financial planning efficiency, and ensure seamless alignment between finance, operations, and business units Expertise in extracting and analyzing financial data, generating insightful reports, and supporting decision-making across departments to drive strategic business outcomes Strong command of Excel functions (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros) for financial reporting and automation along with expertise in SQL for querying, manipulating, and ensuring data integrity across multiple databases
