The Utilities Data Management team at ATCO Energy Systems is looking for an experienced Senior Data & Analytics Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have advanced technical skills, leadership experience, and a passion for data-driven insights. This role is well-suited for someone who can lead a team of analytics experts, manage end-to-end data and analytics projects, and effectively engage stakeholders to deliver impactful data solutions.
The successful applicant will have extensive data science and advanced analytics expertise and proficiency in Power BI. Candidates should also be knowledgeable in data engineering and possess strong technical skills in SQL, Python, and Databricks. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement and process improvement skills, effectively combining technical knowledge with interpersonal abilities to align data with strategy.

Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analytics experts, promoting a high-performance, collaborative culture. Manage the team’s workflow and oversee analytics projects from start to finish, ensuring quality and alignment with business goals. Provide technical guidance to team members to ensure timely and successful project delivery.Data Analytics & Data Science
Perform and oversee advanced data analytics, including predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning to generate actionable insights. Design and implement analytical models and solutions to address business challenges and forecast trends.SQL & Python Expertise
Demonstrate expertise in SQL and Python for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Optimize queries and scripts to handle large datasets, support analytics workflows, and deliver timely results.Power BI & Data Visualization
Design and develop user-friendly Power BI dashboards and reports, translating data insights into clear, impactful visualizations for business stakeholders. Train stakeholders in Power BI self-service analytics and support data visualization best practices.Process Improvement
Identify, design, and implement process improvements within analytics workflows, enhancing efficiency, scalability, and data quality. Develop/lead initiatives to enhance data quality, streamline reporting, and develop scalable data solutions.Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, align analytics with business goals, and communicate findings. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment and satisfaction with analytics solutions.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7+ years in data analytics, data science, or data engineering, with at least 3 years in a team leadership role. Certifications in data analytics, data science, or Power BI is preferred. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Databricks is preferred. Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis. Expertise in Power BI development, data visualization, and report design. Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks for data engineering and ETL processes. Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques. Demonstrated ability to streamline analytics processes and improve data quality and accessibility. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships and translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations.What We Offer:
