About the Role

AIA is looking for a data architect to own the Data architecture across business units and IT in the local Hong Kong entity. One of the focuses of the data architect is to design the target state data architecture, and to facilitate the transition to the target state. The data architect is also responsible for driving a architecture mentality and a data-driven culture in the organization. The data architect will define models, policies and standards that will govern the movement, improvement, integration, catalog, quality, security, scalability and availability of data throughout the organization. Another focus of the data architect will be to own the establishment of the technical Data Platform in Hong Kong.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Build trust and exert influence in all areas of IT and business to develop a data-driven culture among the organizationEngage with business and technology leaders to understand strategy, articulate solution options, evaluate tradeoffs and influence key decisionsCollaborate within and outside of IT to define the data management & governance process, and facilitate its adoptionCollaborate with technology risk and compliance to ensure alignment with data protection and security policiesEmploy architecture principles, technology standards, best practices and practical experience to design data management & governance solutions to facilitate the overall information architecture (data solutions, ingestion, classification, linage & traceability, integration, catalog, quality, security, scalability, availability, etc.)Own the working groups to improve data quality in HK. Moreover, establish the evergreen process to supervise and continuously improve data qualityPartner with application development teams the solutioning of the data management and governance platformPartner with application development teams to build and apply data integration patterns between applications running on-premise and in AzurePartner with application development teams to create a Data Lake and data visualization/analytic solutions. Promote usage within IT and to business (Auzre Data Lake, Azure ML, Databrick, etc.)Partner with application development teams to ensure project/application solution deliveries are aligned with data policies and standardsPartner with business to leverage data to address business challenges/opportunities, to improve strategic decision making, reduce risk, create operational efficiencies and fuel business success

Minimum Job Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in information technology or related discipline10+ years of IT related experience in architect/managerial position, preferably in insurance or financial industry. Candidates will more experience will be considered as Senior Data Architect (Associate Director Level).A demonstrated track record of making a difference and adding value. Must be able to develop relationships across IT and business units, working multi-functionally to achieve resultsDemonstrable ability to lead and demonstrate strong sense of ownershipDemonstrable ability to convey complex information in a simplified fashion to facilitate understandingExperience in executive communicationExperience in setting up Data Governance and processes in an enterprise environment is preferredExperience with Cloud platforms (Azure preferred)Experience with relational databases and data warehouse such as Azure SQL, SQL Server, Oracle or othersExperience with NoSQL DBs such as MongoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, ElastiCache, Redis, Neo4j or othersExperience with Big Data related solutions such as Azure Data Lake, Azure ML, Databrick, Azure Event Hub or othersExperience with statistical tools and building machine learning algorithms using tools such as Python, R or othersExperience with data visualization/analytic tools such as Tableau, MS Power BI or othersSelf-motivated, action-and-result oriented, team player and demonstrable ability to influence othersExcellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
