Senior Data Engineer, Amazon Logistics

Look no further. As an Amazon.com Data Engineer you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. This individual should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. This high impact role will have an opportunity to help design, build and scale our data infrastructure from the ground up, work with emerging technologies such as Redshift, Kinesis, Lambda, EMR etc while driving business intelligence solutions end-to-end. They should be an expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. This individual should also be able to work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions. The role requires someone who loves data, understands enterprise information systems, and has a strong business sense. Responsibilities include: - Own the data engineering space for Amazon logistics by working with teams in reviewing existing architecture, recommending best practices in DW and databases - Work with in-house scientists, global supply chain, transportation and logistics teams, and software teams to identify new features and projects - Work with native AWS pipelines to build scalable daily, intraday and realtime/streaming datasets - Constantly innovate and improve on existing services that transfer data from one systems to another - This is an individual contributor role with potential to become a people manager in the future that will manage a team of 4-5 DEs and partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions Key job responsibilities 1 - Build complex ETL pipelines ranging from D-1 to streaming data loads in native AWS 2 - Automate adhoc data processes in AMZL BI and tech community 3 - Review and improve existing last mile data architecture 4 - Train and Mentor other junior Data Engineers Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of data engineering experience - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines - Experience with SQL - Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS - Experience mentoring team members on best practices Preferred Qualifications - Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR - Experience operating large data warehouses Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
