Senior Data Engineer – Core Data

As a Data Engineer, you'll work collaboratively with data engineers, data scientists and analysts across various business initiatives, leveraging massive datasets pivotal to the company's operations. Your efforts will support multiple teams in reporting, bidding, and experimentation of data pipelines. This role requires effective communication with software engineers responsible for generating data and a deep passion for Data Engineering and SQL. We seek candidates with a robust engineering background, a technical mindset, and a keen interest in the business implications of analytics and DataOps. How you’ll make an impact: 

• Design, build, and own our core data tables that enable high impact data driven decision making by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our core data tables

• Implement and optimize scalable data pipelines while meeting the needs of data consumers

• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts to deliver high impact data projects

• Automate monitoring of data pipelines and ensure data quality and consistency by implementing data validation checks, data profiling, and data cleansing processes 

• Experiment with new data technologies while keeping business priorities in mind

What you'll need to thrive:    

• 4+ years' work experience in data engineering, writing clean maintainable code with a software engineering mindset 

• Excellent SQL skills with a highly analytical mind; you can read, understand, and improve other people’s code

• Solid experience with several programming languages in a data-related context e.g., Python or Java

• Familiarity with data workflow management systems e.g. Apache Airflow

• Hands-on experience with Big data cloud technologies e.g. GCP, BigQuery, etc. 

• A product mindset to understand business needs and develop scalable engineering solutions

• Excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting ideas and findings to stakeholders

• Fluency in English (our company language)

Stand out with: 

• Familiarity with data quality and data management 

• knowledge of web technologies and streaming data technologies like Protobuf, Kafka 

• Familiarity with BI and monitoring tools e.g. Looker, Grafana, etc.
