Data Engineer
Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering Team. You will be responsible for developing and managing Data Pipelines and assisting various data-driven requests across the company. The position involves a wide variety of technical skills, from developing high throughput Spark jobs to tuning performance of Big Data solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large-scale data and building automated data ETL processes. Data warehousing experience would be ideal.
Key responsibilities include:
•\tBuild and maintain big data technologies, environments, and applications, seeking opportunities for improvements and efficiencies
•\tPerforming ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes based on business requirements using Apache Spark and data ingestion from Apache Kafka
•\tWork with various data platforms including Apache Hadoop, Apache Ozone, AWS S3, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg
•\tUtilizing orchestration tools like Apache NiFi for managing and scheduling data flows efficiently
•\tWrites performant SQL statement to analyze data with Hive/Impala/Oracle
•\tFull application development lifecycle (SDLC) from design to deployment
•\tWorking with multiple stakeholders across teams to fulfill ad-hoc investigations, including large-scale data extraction, transformation, and analyses
About You
•\tExcellent problem-solving skills with good understanding of data engineering concepts
•\tProficient in Apache Spark with Python and related technologies
•\tStrong knowledge of SQL and performance tuning
•\tExperience in Big Data technologies like Hadoop and Oracle Exadata
•\tSolid knowledge of Linux environments and proficiency with bash scripting
•\tEffective verbal and written communication skills
Nice to have knowledge or prior experience with any of the following
•\tApache Kafka, Apache Spark with Scala
•\tOrchestration with Apache Nifi, Apache Airflow
•\tJava development and microservices architecture
•\tBuild tools like Jenkins
•\tLog analysis and monitoring using Splunk
•\tDatabricks, AWS
•\tWorking with large data sets with terabytes of data

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
