Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to drive the design and delivery of high-quality, reliable data solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of modern data engineering best practices, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. This role will be based from our Bournemouth office and will be in an established Data Engineering Team. We offer Hybrid working however we will require you to be in the office two days a week and be in a commutable distance to Bournemouth. How you'll make an impact Architecture & Design: Develop detailed technical designs and recommend high-availability data warehouse architectures. Data Management: Oversee data integrity, validation, and transformation to ensure accuracy and optimize data retrieval and storage efficiency. Automation & Scalability: Develop automated data processing workflows and scale environments to accommodate growing data volumes. Data Security and Compliance: Implement data governance and access controls, ensuring compliance with security policies and regulations like GDPR. Performance Optimization: Improve data ingestion pipelines and query performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks. Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business intelligence teams on data integration and reporting projects. Development: Write efficient, scalable code and conduct code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices. Technical Leadership: Supervise small project teams, provide technical guidance, and coach team members in data engineering best practices. Training: Provide training and foster knowledge sharing across the team and user base. About You Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and SQL. Working experience with data warehousing and modeling concepts. Expertise in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Fantastic communication skills for effective collaboration. Understanding of data security principles and compliance. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. Basic knowledge of insurance-related concepts is beneficial. Technologies We Use: Snowflake Data Cloud and supporting tools like FiveTran, Collibra, dbt, Dataiku. Microsoft Azure technologies, including Synapse and DevOps. Microsoft SQL Server technologies, including SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS. Programming languages and tools such as Python and C#.
