Senior Data Governance Engineer

Our state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to transforming diabetes management through innovative solutions and technologies that reduce the burden of living with diabetes. Medtronic is hiring a Senior Data Governance Engineer. As a Senior engineer, you will be a key member of our Data Governance team, defining scope, assessing current data governance capabilities, building roadmaps to mature data governance capabilities. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. + DataGovernanceStrategy Development - responsible for the strategic development, architectural definition, and enterprise wide datagovernanceand data management initiatives supporting the delivery of data as a service + Provide DataGovernanceand Data Management advisory expertise + Responsible for the identification and evaluation of metadata platform alternatives, the development of the logical metadata framework architecture, and the definition and implementation of metadata maintenance processes + Defining DataGovernanceoperating models, roles, and responsibilities in collaboration with Medtronic requirements + Responsible for the assessment and selection of Data Management tools landscape including: data profiling, data quality, metadata, MDM, rules engines, and pattern matching + Refine and develop the data-centric approach and methodologies which may include areas such as: data strategy, datagovernance, data lineage, analytics, business intelligence, data architecture, data quality, master data management and data integration and delivery + Assess current state capabilities, identify gaps versus leading practices, and recommend future state data requirements + Identify opportunities for new workflows, third party ‘glossary/metadata’ tools, database architectures, and third party pre-existing data models + Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to assist in understanding and documenting data requirements, lineage, and partnering with IT data integration and data warehouse teams to ensure requirements are effectively executed + Help define data modeling naming standards, abbreviations, guidelines, and best practices + Enhance or design data model review processes based on business requirements Minimum Qualification: + At least 5 years of experience developing / structuring an enterprise wide datagovernanceorganization and business process (operating models, roles, partner organizations, responsibilities) + Hands-on experience with both the business side and IT side implementing or supporting an MDM and/or Data Warehouse and Reporting IT solutions + Utilize strong business knowledge of the investment management industry and common data management operations + Broad understanding of the role of data management within global markets organizations, information flow, and datagovernanceissues + Domain expertise in specific areas of Data Management such as: data strategy, datagovernance, data lineage, analytics, business intelligence, data architecture, data quality, master data management and data integration and delivery **SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM:** Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects – from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education. **DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS** **Autonomy:** Seasoned individual contributor. Works independently under limited supervision to determine and develop approach to solutions. Coaches and reviews the work of lower level specialists; may manage projects / processes. **Organizational Impact:** May be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area. Contributes to the completion of work group objectives, through building relationships and consensus to reach agreements on assignments. **Innovation and Complexity:** Problems and issues faced are difficult, and may require understanding of multiple issues, job areas or specialties . Makes improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of the job area. Analysis provided is in-depth in nature and often provides recommendations on process improvements. **Communication and Influence:** Communicates with senior internal and external customers and vendors. Exchange information of facts, statuses, ideas and issues to achieve objective, and influence decision-making. **Leadership and Talent Management:** May provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area. May manage projects, requiring delegation of work and review of others' work product . **Required Knowledge and Experience:** Requires advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management.
