Summary:
We are seeking an exceptional Data Governance Center of Excellence (COE) Senior Manager to join our team. This role will be pivotal in overseeing and enhancing our data governance framework, with a strong focus on data privacy, data retention, data use, and data protection. The Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing processes that enable the business to harness the power of data responsibly and in compliance with policy, fostering a culture of accountability and ethical data management across the organization. The Data COE Senior Manager will also play a pivotal role in the implementation and advancement of the Enterprise Data Catalog to establish a central hub for connecting business processes, roles and responsibilities, policies, standards, and controls to Huntington's most critical data assets. The Data Governance COE Senior Manager is critical to the success of Huntington’s journey to being a data driven organization.
The Data Governance Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards for data management across the organization. This includes defining a clear vision and strategy aligned with organizational goals, securing top management commitment, and engaging stakeholders. The COE develops and enforces data governance policies, appoints data stewards, and implements processes to monitor and improve metadata quality. Additionally, it provides training to foster a data-driven culture and continuously refines practices to adapt to changing business needs. By ensuring effective data management and governance frameworks, the COE supports better decision-making and improved business outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Process Development and Implementation: Design and implement processes that support data privacy, data protection, data retention, and appropriate data usage, ensuring they align with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
+ Data Privacy and Protection: Lead initiatives to safeguard data privacy and protection, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PCI-DSS) and best practices.
+ Data Retention Management: Develop and manage processes for data retention, ensuring data is stored appropriately and disposed of securely when no longer needed.
+ Data Use Oversight: Establish processes to monitor and regulate data usage, ensuring it aligns with organizational policies and ethical standards.
+ Business Support: Collaborate with business units to understand their data needs and provide guidance on how to leverage data responsibly and effectively.
+ Framework Implementation: Define and implement a data governance framework that outlines business roles and responsibilities, ensuring clear accountability and effective data management practices across the organization.
+ Federation Support: Help to drive the federation of data governance across business segments, ensuring consistent application of data governance policies and practices throughout the organization.
+ Collaboration with CDAO Team: Work closely with the other peers and colleagues of Chief Data and Architecture Office (CDAO) team members to leverage the data catalog tool and other data management and data quality tools, enhancing data discoverability and usability.
+ Organizational Change Management: Implement new processes that require organizational change management, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption across the organization.
+ Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on data governance principles and best practices, promoting a data-driven culture.
+ Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and refine data governance processes to adapt to evolving business needs and technological advancements.
+ Leadership and Team Management: Lead a team of data stewards and governance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure effective data management.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in business, business Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, or Engineering
+ 10+ years of experience implementing data governance frameworks (e.g., data policies, standards, and controls), experience developing and/or implementing data governance policy and standards, experience working with IT and/or business segments on the analysis of complex business processes and data governance needs, and leading successful teams
+ 10+ years of experience working with data, metadata and reference data frameworks, and experience in metadata and/or data quality monitoring
+ 7+ years of leadership experience leading work efforts and managing toward deadlines, and developing high-performing teams
+ 7+ years experience in driving the federation of data governance across business segments by ensuring the consistent application of data governance policies and practices throughout the organization, promoting collaboration, ensuring consistency, providing guidance, monitoring compliance, and facilitating communication to enhance data quality, security, and compliance.
+ 3+ years experience with data governance, data privacy, and data protection
+ 2+ years experience with regulatory requirements and best practices in data management
+ 2+ years experience in leveraging and maintaining data catalog tools (i.e., Alation, Collibra, Informatica) and delivering frameworks for roles, responsibilities, and sustainable processes for data catalog governance
+ 2+ years experience in organizational change management, process design, and implementation.
+ 1+ years experience with PCI-DSS compliance and implementation
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experienced working with IT on the analysis of complex business processes and data governance needs and development of solutions and re-engineering opportunities
+ Experience developing and monitoring the delivery of efficient and effective processes to solve diverse and complex data problems
+ Proven Track record within Data Governance with influencing the overall direction of data policies, standards, and controls, and data lifecycle management
+ Risk management, regulatory, compliance, and/or audit experience
+ Experience in strategy, process improvement, management consulting
+ Ability to effectively drive Data Governance strategy
+ Well-versed with latest data policy decisions, guidelines, and business trends
+ Able to translate long-term visions into actionable roadmaps that are broadly accepted
+ Ability to translate business and functional needs into policy, standards, and controls requirements, and estimate their impact across the data lifecycle
+ Excellent partnership and collaboration skills, including the ability to work in a cross-functional manner with business and technology stakeholders
+ Strong ability to rapidly comprehend the changes to key business processes and the impact on the overall Data Governance framework
+ In-depth understanding of the business objectives of business segments and how our Data Policy & Standards support those objectives
+ Strong ability to analyze complex situations and to derive workable actions
+ Strong ability to identify, prioritize and weigh different options and to recommend value-add solutions
+ Ability to build strong relationships throughout the organization
