Senior Data Governance Specialist 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Data Governance Specialist are to: 

 

Data Governance is a collection of evolving practices and processes that help ensure the formal management of data within an organization.  The value added by implementing data governance can be considerable, as it impacts various levels of the organization.  The impact of implementing data governance within the organization can affect and improve data quality, operational efficiency, strategic decision-making, enhancing data share and collaboration all while minimizing risk management.

 

Responsible for deploying and enforcing policies and procedures that ensure proper use and management of Bayer Crop Science data;Evangelize the Divisional Data Governance framework to functional leads/participants. Drives efficient, accurate records, and effective information management throughout the organization;Lead cross functional and technical teams on complex, advanced data projects, supporting implementation and oversight of enterprise data engagement and governance goals, standards, practices, processes and change management;Lead data governance audits and assessments.  Ensure continued compliance with the data governance policies (including access reviews, compliance assessments, monitoring, and control testing);Designing and implementing industry best practices around Data classification/Data Access Framework/data quality and metadata mgmt./rdm/mdm/API/AI governance frameworks,  etc.;Evaluate concerns in governing data, including problem definitions, opportunity and solution recommendations, and root cause analysis;  Establish and demonstrate confidence and consistency in the quality of Crop Science data;Identify opportunities to eliminate or minimize data compliance risks;Work with stakeholders to establish data sharing structures and protocols and to support smooth change management for improved data sharing and adoption;Collaborate with business data stewards to advance and optimize adoption of enterprise data governance and engagement through the execution of use cases and other means of iterative adoption;Institute and facilitate governance of business and technical metadata as well as data quality routines and frameworks;Develop and lead the set up of  high-quality, repeatable processes and process improvements, ways of working, tooling opportunities, KPIs, and SLAs focused on data governance excellence;Identify and solve cross-functional and inter-team challenges;Represents the data governance strategy and interests across Crop Science teams (build partnerships, influence, drive messaging);Ensure financial best practices are integrated into the ways of working;Ensuring compliance with data protection laws, regulations, and general privacy practices is a part of data management;Provide training and education on data governance to employees;Partner with legal/CSRM teams to prepare for the up-coming compliance/legal state, regional, country requirements. 

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics or related field; Expert level expertise in querying SQL and/or NoSQL databases;Expert level experience developing Functional/technical/data workflows and partnering with tech/business teams throughout implementation and change management;Strong experience identifying and implementing data governance best practices for a data-driven organization;Proven implementation experience across product supply/commercial/r&d domains around operationalizing frameworks around access mgmt., rdm/mdm, API/AI/model governance etc.;Experience in operationalizing data compliance practices including security, privacy (CCPA, GDPR) and Bayer compliance directives/policies (MARGO), localization policies a plus;Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills; Acts as a change agent across Crop Science to develop and leverage relationships to influence business direction and drive the data governance strategy;Ability to effectively challenge all levels of the organization and offer value-add solutions to meet data governance objectives. Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and people and relationships management;Collaborative team player who is detailed oriented and focused on solution quality and execution.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Familiarity with data process, internal applications, & scripting tools.  AWS, REST, GraphQL, gRPC, KAFKA, Python.

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $118,248 to $177,372.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
