The IT Transformation and Data Governance Office leads Arla’s data strategy, focusing on data governance frameworks, best practices, and tools to enhance data use. We act as one of the driving forces in launching Arla’s new data enablement platform, which includes a data catalogue, business glossary, and data lineage. Our commitment to data as a force for good is central to the digital transformation across Arla

 

How you will make an impact

As a Senior Data Governance Specialist, you will play a central role in this transformation. You will work with specific business areas to assess their current state, define their goals, and plan how to reach them. Your expertise will support the implementation of key data governance roles, tools, frameworks, and processes. Moreover, you will help drive selected initiatives in close collaboration with colleagues across Arla.

 

More specifically, you will:

Partner with key business areas to assess their data needs, helping them unlock the full potential of their data through improved maturity, accessibility, and availability. Lead and advance data governance practices, ensuring that Arla’s data is organized, governed, and used in a way that drives impactful business transformation. Provide expert guidance on defining and implementing data standards, quality metrics, and governance frameworks across Arla. Track and report on data governance progress, ensuring measurable outcomes and continuous improvement Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices in data management and governance, ensuring Arla’s strategy remains cutting-edge

 

What will make you successful

To succeed in this role, you will need strong communication and analytical skills, the ability to structure complex information clearly, and a deep understanding of business processes. You must possess excellent relationship-building skills and thrive in cross-functional collaboration, as you will be working with diverse teams across Arla. Additionally, you will need a proactive mindset and a passion for driving data governance initiatives that align with business goals.

 

Furthermore, we expect that you have the following qualifications:

At least 5 years of experience with driving initiatives or change in an IT/digital context. A master's degree or equivalent in IT, Data Management, Business Economics, or a related field. Hands-on experience with data governance or data management. Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to inspire and lead data governance efforts across the organization Familiarity with data governance frameworks, best practices, and data quality management. Knowledge of information architecture and conceptual data models is a plus Experience with agile methodology is advantageous. Fluency in English is a prerequisite, as you will be joining an international team working across borders. Experience from a multicultural company is an advantage.

 

For this role, you will be based in Aarhus and can expect 5-10 travel days per year.
