Senior Data Management Professional - Taxonomist

As part of the Data Management Lab (DML) department, we're responsible for supporting the development, enablement, and implementation of data management best practices that enable the delivery of “ready-to-use” data. What’s the role? As a Senior Taxonomist, you will be pivotal in the development of taxonomies across the firm, specifically consulting with teams around organizational methods to support a variety of use cases - classification, implementation, validation, and more! The day-to-day will vary, some days you may be reviewing proposed taxonomies and providing feedback. On other days, you may be constructing controlled vocabularies, which will be used as standard reference data. Your work will touch a multitude of domains across Bloomberg, covering many departments like Data, Product and Engineering. We’ll trust You To: + Leadthe development and implementation of taxonomies to represent complex domains,promote FAIR principles, and build bridges from legacy products to emergingsolutions. + Workclosely with stakeholders, subject matter experts, product owners, andengineers to understand their use cases, requirements, dependencies tocritically evaluate proposed solutions. + Communicateeffectively with stakeholders by articulating complex ideas using accurateterminology with relatable examples, as well as, asking clarifying questions todefine organizational strategies. + Recognizepatterns across disparate workstreams, make abstractions, using a combinationof approaches (top-down, bottom-up, etc.). + Conducttraining sessions and workshops to educate on the importance and usage oftaxonomies, and drive adoption. + Establishand oversee governance processes to ensure consistent application andcompliance with taxonomy standards. + Balancetimeliness with quality under tight deadlines, managing multiple priorities andstakeholders. + Demonstrateend-to-end relevance to stakeholder needs, from gathering competency questionsto finding traction with integrations. + Stayabreast of industry trends and best practices to continually refine and improvetaxonomy strategies. You’ll need to have: + 4+years of experience in developing and managing taxonomies and/or ontologies forreal-world applications + ABA/BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant datatechnology field, or equivalent professional work experience + Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborateeffectively at all organizational levels + Demonstratedability to drive results, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities + Communicatecomplex topics with appropriate scope to varying audiences We’d love to see: + Strongknowledge of ontology and taxonomy development tools (e.g., Protégé, TopBraidComposer, PoolParty, etc.) + Proficiencyin ontology languages and standards such as OWL, RDF, SKOS, and SHACL + Understandingof Data Governance and Data Management, supported by industry certifications(e.g. DAMA CDMP, DCAM, etc.) + Experiencewith collaborative development and version control systems (e.g. git) + Exposureto the Bloomberg Terminal and/or Enterprise data products + Experiencewith collaborative design platforms, such as Miro, Figma, and LucidChart Does this sound like you?
