Posting Number NONAC3288 Job Title Senior Data Manager, HPC Position Title Sr. Manager of Data Management Position Type Non-Faculty Number of vacancies 1 Salary Commensurate with experience Department Institute of Translational Genomic Medicine Position Summary As the Senior Manager of Data Managment, HPC (High Performance Computing Cluster) you will be responsible for developing and overseeing our data management strategy, which includes the creation of on-premises high-capacity computing clusters and computing data systems. This position will also develop and maintain a clinical research data management infrastructure consistent with and supportive of current and future process developments. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our researchers have access to the data resources they need for their genomic research projects. This position will provide data management oversight of vendors and work collaboratively with data managers, clinicians, study managers, biostatisticians, and statistical programmers in the planning, conduct, and execution of all phases of operations related to the Institute of Translational Genomic Medicine (ITGM). This role will work strategically with Morehouse School of Medicine’s cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure that all data deliverables generated by ITGM are accurate, timely, consistent, and executed with the highest Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Clinical Data Management Practices (GCDMP) and quality standards, in accordance with established contractual agreements, budgets and grant/study timelines.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data management, or a related field.


Experience: 10+ years of data management experience 4+ years of supervisory or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources Experience with HPC Cluster systems Experience with data visualization tools and development of reporting capabilities (i.e., SAS, J-Review, Spotfire, MS Power BI, etc.) Proven experience in data management, including building on-premises computing clusters and managing cloud-based data system Knowledge of genomics and biomedical research data is highly desirable Proficiency in data governance, data security, and compliance standards

Preferred Qualifications Education: Master’s degree or advanced degree in computer science, data management or a related field.

Description of Job Duty Data Infrastructure Development: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of on-premises high-capacity computing clusters to support data-intensive research projects Evaluate, select, and implement cloud-based computing solutions and data storage systems that align with our research objectives Collaborate with IT professionals to ensure the infrastructure meets security, scalability, and performance standards


Data Governance and Compliance: Establish and enforce data governance policies, including data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) Implement best practices for data acquisition, storage, and sharing to ensure data integrity and accessibility
Team Management: Build and manage a skilled team of data engineers, administrators, and analysts to support data management and analysis tasks Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
Collaboration: Work closely with researchers, clinicians, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure that data resources are tailored to support their projects Collaborate with external partners and vendors for data-related services and tools
Budget Management: Develop and manage the data management budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness in infrastructure development
Additional Responsibilities: Oversee vendors and manage clinical data management workflow for global development programs ensuring all necessary data quality control measures are in place; manage deliverables across multiple research projects and be responsible for all vendor(s) oversight for outsourced DM activities Attend multidisciplinary project teams providing specific expertise on timeline development and deliverables related to clinical data Participate, in consultation with cross-functional partners, in the development of research data related key performance indicators (KPIs) and key quality indicators (KQIs) to build into contractual agreements Be in the forefront for efforts to drive adoption of external innovations related to research and clinical data to accelerate product development, optimize risk-based quality management, and enhance analytic capabilities Review of research data related documentation including research protocols, Data Management Plans (DMPs), electronic Case Report Forms (eCRFs), Data Transfer Plans (DTPs), Data Management reports, eCRF Completion Guidelines, etc., liaising with colleagues in other functions to ensure alignment with high quality Participate in the development of the research components of regulatory submissions and transfer of research data as needed, ensure data deliverables meet regulatory submission requirements

Oversee performance of external vendors responsible for research data deliverables (e.g., UAT, query quality, clinical data transfers, database cleaning, database locking and archival, etc.); ensure quality completion of all research data related deliverables

Ensure all research data is collected, handled, transferred, stored via secure and authorized methods, ensuring compliance with General Data Protection Regulation standards and local privacy requirement standards including identification of any systems or processes necessary to fulfil requirements Working closely with clinical programming to oversee the planning and development of Clinical Data Management Systems (CDMS). Participate in portfolio-level research data related risk identification, management, and mitigation efforts and report progress to senior leadership May participate in due diligence team in evaluating potential in-licensing
