Position: Senior Data Scientist
Job Location: 640 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Develop a gradient boosting based machine learning algorithm to predict the potential order conversion rate of an item by looking into its historical data to establish item-level deal characteristics. Use this technique to compare the potential conversion between different items and prioritize items with higher score to have higher exposure. Design the end-to-end pipeline that includes data extraction, feature engineering, hyper-parameter tuning, model training, and model scoring. Implement pipelines using PySpark and SparkSQL and schedule them to run on a regular basis using Directed acyclic graphs from Dataproc service of Google Cloud. Conduct a thorough analysis of annual event data to identify top-performing and underperforming items using revenue per impression (RPI) corrected for positional bias. Create a Tableau dashboard to identify items that have potential revenue per impression to consider boosting on eCommerce pages. Fine tune and improve the existing Digital Assortment Item Ranking Tool. Add new item boosting logic that identifies underexposed items based on add to carts, click through rate, and revenue per impression and push them to the top slots of the page balancing item exploration vs. exploitation. Create a comprehensive tool to provide daily insights on item level inventory status along with a KPI (Key Performance Indicator), enabling site merchants to adjust the deals which are live on the platform and manage the inventory of key items. Support site merchants to maximize sales during seasonal events and promotional periods by facilitating strategic item placement, data-informed product selection, and effective ranking algorithms.
