Senior Data Scientist

Job Description:

Summary:

The Senior Data Scientist will have three primary responsibilities: (1) conducting data analysis on single cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, (2) clinical bioinformatic analysis, and (3) instructing and training graduate students and postdocs on large data set analysis. The Senior Data Scientist will be conducting analysis within established protocols as needed on several projects in the lab which need to produce high quality results to be included in manuscript submissions and grant applications.

The lab of Dr. Sendurai Mani is dedicated to investigating the biology of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) and identifying the drivers of the cancer stem cell phenotype. The lab is determined to identify resistance mechanisms and develop strategies to prevent and overcome therapy resistance and metastatic progression using preclinical models and profiling patient tumor samples on the single cell level. By target the EMT-signaling pathways and treating metastasis, the lab’s goal is to cure cancer patients regardless of their stage.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 1/31/2027, which may be extended based upon available funding.

Job Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Required: Master's Degree in Cell and/or Molecular Biology, or Bioinformatics

Required: 3 to 5 years of related experience

And/or equivalent combination of education and experience

General background knowledge of cancer informatics is highly desired

Experience with genomics data analysis and programming is highly desired

Proficiency with R, Python, Shell scripting, and advanced data visualization

Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to present complex data in clear presentations

Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community
