Senior Data Scientist
Best Buy’s Advanced Analytics team is responsible for elevating our highest-stake, largest-impact decisions with advanced analytic insights and solutions.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will drive changes for the Reverse Supply Chain and Category Pricing business teams. Your role impacts customers and adds value through innovative data capabilities and insights to optimize processes and strategies. We seek candidates with experience to solve problems in return analytics, pricing, forecasting, and operations.  A strong candidate will have a background in a diverse range of data science and optimization research techniques and a strong understanding of its application in the retail industry.

This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. What you’ll doSource, interpret, and transform operational and transactional data into valuable analytical insights that inform pricing decisions and reverse logistics.Develop and enhance Best Buy's pricing optimization strategies, focusing on maximizing profitability and customer satisfaction.Utilize your expertise in predictive modeling to forecast trends and optimize pricing strategies, ensuring competitive positioning in the market.Leverage returns analytics to identify patterns and insights that drive improvements in the reverse supply chain.Craft and deliver compelling presentations to stakeholders, effectively communicating findings and recommendations related to pricing and return analytics.Collaborate with data engineers to design and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for advanced analytics in pricing and reverse supply chain management.Serve as a trusted advisor to pricing, secondary market, and return operations teams, partnering to drive common outcomes and enhance business performance.Explore and experiment with emerging technologies and methodologies in data science to continuously enhance the capabilities of the pricing and reverse supply chain analytics teams.Lead teams in formulating, researching, and solving business-critical problems in pricing and reverse supply chain management.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree from accredited college/university in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or related STEM field4 years of applied or industry experience in data science and/or a quantitative field2 years of hands-on experience in pricing optimization, demand forecasting, segmentation and/or advanced machine learning and statistical methods (i.e., data analysis, statistics, operations research, and/or machine learning) with application to business problems4 years of hands-on experience using data analytics and optimization tools (i.e., SQL, Python, R, Groubi, Vertex AI)2 years hands-on experience working on large structured and unstructured data environments 2 years of experience developing and deploying scalable machine learning models in production using GCP, Azure or AWS Preferred QualificationsMaster’s or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related STEM field2 years of experience in retail industry, focused on the use of pricing, and predictive modelsKnowledge of Machine Learning / Deep Learning, including Python libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)Experience working with globally distributed teamWhat is in it for you
