A Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and optimizing SQL Server databases to ensure their reliability, availability, and performance. Here are the key aspects of the role:
About the Role
In this opportunity as a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible to:
Database Management: Install, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server instances across multiple environments.Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance through index tuning, query optimization, and resource monitoring.Backup and Recovery: Design and implement robust backup strategies and disaster recovery processes.High Availability Solutions: Implement and manage high availability solutions such as Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping.Monitoring: Enhance SQL monitoring processTroubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex database issues in production and non-production environments.Security Audits: Perform regular security audits and implement measures to protect sensitive data.Collaboration: Work closely with developers, IT staff, and stakeholders to improve application performance and solve database-related issues.Documentation: Accurately document work and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Support 24x7 Operations/Production SQL Server 2016+About You
You’re a fit for the role if your background includes:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering.5 years of hands-on experience managing SQL Server in various environmentsProficiency in SQL Server versions 2016–2022, including installation, configuration, and migrationStrong understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutionsDeep knowledge of SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategiesExperience with cloud-based SQL Server deployments (Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, etc.)Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsExperience in monitoring and acting on critical production issues (Datadog experience would be optimal)AWS Experience (specifically designing, implementing, and/or supporting RDS)Experience in Automation through scripting, SSIS package & SSRS Report developmentExcellent communication skills to interact with various teams and stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously#LI-LJ1
