Position Description
Coordinates physical changes to computer data bases; and codes, tests, and implements physical data base, applying knowledge of data base management system: Designs logical and physical data bases, reviews description of changes to data base design to understand how changes to be made affect physical data base (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method). Establishes physical data base parameters. Codes data base descriptions and specifies identifiers of data base to data base management system or directs others in coding data base descriptions. Calculates optimum values for data base parameters, such as amount of computer memory to be used by data base, following manuals and using calculator. Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items, such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data. Specifies which users can access data bases and what data can be accessed by user. Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to data base. Enters codes to create production data base. Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor data base performance, such as distribution of records and amount of available memory. Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to data base management system. Reviews and corrects programs. Answers user questions. Confers with coworkers to determine impact of data base changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to data base. Modifies data base programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning. Workers typically specialize in one or more types of data base management systems. May train users. The scope-of-work is to serve as Senior Database Administrator for the MDOC; the scope-of-work includes the following: a. Install, configure, maintain MS SQL Server databases 2005, 2008, and 2012. b. Perform Database backups, restore databases, and guarantee database recoverability. Maintain database health. c. Maintain database tables, indexes, and views. d. Manage user access, permissions and database roles. e. Maintains database performance optimizing queries (query tuning), maintaining database indexes and statistics. f. Maintain certificates for database encryption and encrypted connections. Familiar with TDE database encryption. g. Monitor database space usage, reconfigure SQL Server Filegroups if necessary. h. Create, or maintain SQL Server jobs and maintenance plans. i. Maintain scripts or jobs using Secure FTP protocols. j. Assist in the creation of presentation materials k. Other duties as required

Experience Required
The Database Administrator must have the following experience, skills and expertise: l. Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and 8 years or more of experience in the field or in a related area. m. Documented experience in database design. n. Documented experience using SQL commands and performing database administration tasks. o. Documented experience with MS SQL Server 2005 and up (certification or working experience) p. Experience working with MS SQL Server Cluster environment. q. Experience working with SQL Server Integration Systems packages (SSIS) r. 5 years’ experience in verbal and written communication with clients and technical staff in English.

Experience Preferred
The Business Analyst/Consultant Senior must have the following experience, skills and expertise: s. Experience working with MS SQL Server Reporting Services t. Experience working with SQL Server on a Microsoft CRM Dynamics environment. u. Experience with Windows PowerShell v. MS SQL Server database replication w. Experience working with Sybase Database administration on Sun Solaris environment. x. Documented experience working on enterprise solutions utilizing CRM or ERP solutions y. Experience in Agile and Iterative development

Education Required
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences
Skills:
