Job Description:

Summary:
The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and optimizing MySQL and Oracle databases, ensuring high performance, data integrity, and security. Key responsibilities include overseeing database installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and security measures. The role involves troubleshooting, upgrading, patching, and documenting database systems while collaborating closely with development teams.


Key Responsibilities:

Database Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of MySQL and Oracle databases.Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and index management.Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.Security: Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls and encryption.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute database upgrades and patching to keep systems up-to-date.Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to support database design, development, and deployment.Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and other IT staff.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in database administration with a strong focus on MySQL and Oracle.Technical Skills:Proficiency in MySQL and Oracle database management.Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.Familiarity with database backup and recovery solutions.Understanding of database security best practices.Soft Skills:Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.

Preferred/Optional Qualifications:

Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud).Certification in MySQL and/or Oracle database administration.Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell scripting).
