Summary of the role:

The Database Administrator will assist the database operations team in the implementation, configuration, security, maintenance, and performance tuning/monitoring of the Amadeus database tier as assigned.

The focus of this role is to ensure the availability and performance of existing and future enterprise applications through the use of Oracle, MySQL, Mongo, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres and other emerging database technologies.

You will partner closely with cross functional teams that include Development, Product and Architecture to ensure delivery of our applications at the highest level of quality and performance.

In this role you’ll:

Plan, document, allocate, install, and configure database servers (with appropriate patch level and within current security standards) with a strong emphasis on high availability and fault tolerance and disaster recovery including multi-site high-availability as required.Plan, create, implement, monitor, and maintain backup solutions via automation, as well as perform backup restore validation tasks.Design, build, maintain database monitoring solutions for 100's of databases in the multiple terabyte range across data platforms.Manage databases through phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from development through critical Production systems. Manage and create standards, procedures, and policies for governing database environmentsProvide escalation support, troubleshooting and resolution assistance, and performance tuning aid for the platform and operational database teams.

About the candidate:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or BusinessGood experience managing Oracle database technologies, such as Oracle 12c/19c, GoldenGate, and Exadata, in a critical, highly available enterprise operation.Experience working with MySQL, Mongo, Microsoft SQL Server (2016, 2017, 2019), and/or Postgres is a plus.Travel Requirements (include all applicable regions and corresponding percentages) potential travel to North America and/or Europe (5%)

Business Understanding

Understanding the impact that critical systems have on the overall business of a company. Specific knowledge of hospitality and travel business a plus.

Computing

Certification in one or more database platforms is preferred.Able to troubleshoot complex database engine performance or technical issues.Collaborate with and understand the infrastructure team dependencies on the database environment.Ability to plan and execute tasks related to maintenance, upgrades, failovers and other database system sustaining activities as required.

Languages

Fluent in English and Spanish required

Specific knowledge

Knowledge of HW, OS, and storage technologiesProficient with RDBMS memory architecture and associated tuning techniquesProficiency in various scripting languagesExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in abstract situationsUnderstanding of capacity management concepts and techniquesDemonstratable knowledge on DB tuning toolsOther industry certifications such as SAFe or ITIL a plus
