How you will make an impact: This is an exciting opportunity for someone to build a function from scratch and help shape the future of our commercial operations. This opportunity requires a dynamic problem-solver who can work in fast-paced environments in a critical role with senior-executive level visibility.As a Sr. Deal Desk Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving our business growth by managing the deal structuring, pricing, and proposal development process. This role is responsible for creating winning bids for large, complex enterprise deals while ensuring that deals are structured to meet profitability and strategic objectives. The Sr. Deal Desk Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Solutions, Finance, Marketing, Legal, Product, and Operations, to deliver timely and competitive proposals and ensure deal success.Deal Structuring & Pricing:Analyze and structure deals to ensure profitability, compliance with company policies, and alignment with customer needs.Provide guidance to the analyst team to develop financial scenario models and margin analysis on deals to assess profitability and risk.Serve as a strategic advisor to the sales team, providing guidance and recommendations on deal structuring, pricing strategies, deal terms, proposal content, and approval thresholds.Review and provide guidance on contractual terms and conditions to mitigate risks and ensure favorable outcomes for the business.Coordinate with Legal and Finance to resolve issues related to contract terms, conditions, and financial impact.Proposal Development & Management:Lead the end-to-end proposal development process, working with stakeholders to create compelling, accurate, and compliant proposals that meet customer requirements.Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams to gather necessary information for proposals and deal structuring.Manage timelines for proposal submissions, ensuring deadlines are met and that all proposal components, including pricing, product descriptions, and contractual terms, are aligned.Deal Process Improvement:Partner with the rest of the Commercial Strategy team to continuously enhance the deal desk and proposal management processes identifying bottlenecks, opportunities for efficiencies, and implementing new ways of working or tools. Implement best practices to increase efficiency and quality in both deal structuring and proposal generation.Cross-Organizational Governance & Alignment:Manage the governance process for deal approvals, ensuring compliance with internal policies and timely reviews.Serve as the primary liaison for internal teams throughout the deal process, then lead hand-offs and knowledge transfers to the delivery organization.What you bring to Uplight: Experience: 5 - 8 years of experience in management consulting, strategy, deal desk management, sales operations, investment banking, or financial analysis roles. Energy industry experience is a plus.Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple complex bids and deadlines.Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and a strategic mindset.Advanced skills in Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis tools.Ability to ask strategic questions and dive into problems without expertise in subject matter.Ability to lead with influence, especially with senior-level executives and team members.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling proposal content.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
