Our Military Aircraft Engineering team is looking for a Senior Design Drafter to join them. You will report to the Product Engineering Tool Design Lead and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, New York.

 

The primary responsibility of this role will be supporting the development of new product/development processes as well as applying new manufacturing technologies for tooling and work holding to existing mature production programs.  You’ll take ownership and drive results performing challenging and non-routine tool and fixture designs requiring the application of engineering techniques and procedures.  In addition to the accountability for the assembly and manufacturing processes in East Aurora, NY you may also help support our other aircraft facilities worldwide as required. 

 

To be considered for the Senior Design Drafter, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

 

Associates Degree in a technical major, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology 5+ years or more Drafting/Design work experience Strong CAD drafting and design skills are a must Siemens NX (Unigraphics) experience is a plus Working knowledge of GD&T preferred Comprehensive knowledge of machine shop practices, part fabrication methods, mathematics through descriptive geometry, dimensioning techniques, and geometric tolerancing Technical know-how that is commensurate with extensive experience in the design of high tooling and fixturing for standard industrial assembly processes

 

 As a Senior Design Drafter, you will:

 

Require conceptual direction with minimal technical inputs from a Senior Design/Project Engineer on design tasks. Incompletely defined requirements must be developed into specific designs generating a full design package consisting of layouts, schematics, detail drawings, assembly drawings and parts lists suitable for prototype and subsequently production release. Direct other drafting personnel in the completion of assignments.  Work independently or with an engineer, generate dimensional and functional specifications for customer supplied components. Present design results for review and substantiates soundness of design through discussion of assumptions, constraints and analyses used. Interact with Development, Product and Manufacturing Methods Engineers as well as outside vendors during the course of product design. Contribute to the design conceptual process by interaction with other engineers on the development team. Prepare complete design, often complex, with minimal technical inputs by comprehending the total task and planning out the detail requirements. Prepare complex redesigns and repackaging of existing products through proper component and hardware sizing and selection. Perform engineering calculations related to sizing, performance, tolerance and assembly. Select components, materials and processes. Design tool and fixtures when required. Check the work of junior drafting personnel and assure the accuracy of design of your own work and the work of others. Assist production in the resolution of manufacturing problems related to potential design problems. Coordinate with production to develop effective production control configurations (kit structure, alternate parts, revision control, etc.) Assure timely completion of assigned projects.

 Salary Range:

$70,000 - $100,000
