As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading our design and engineering efforts to ensure the highest quality of our refrigeration products. You will serve as a vital link between our Selmer plant and our design center in Louisville, KY, and internationally. Your work will focus on validating design correctness, enhancing consumer quality experience, and driving the total cost of quality to best-in-class levels. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and cross-functional communication skills. **Position** Senior Design Engineer **Location** USA, Decatur, AL **How You'll Create Possibilities** + Lead design and process improvements to enhance product quality, performance, and manufacturing efficiency. + Serve as a liaison engineer for domestic and international design teams, ensuring seamless integration of design practices and adherence to best practices. + Spearhead initiatives to reduce the total Cost of Quality (COQ), focusing on warranty, concessions, damage, and insurance. + Conduct reliability testing, product safety assessments, and factory process improvements. + Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve quality issues, integrating quality robustness into future designs. + Mentor team members in best design practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and expertise development. + Maintain comprehensive design records, update evaluation test procedures, and capture critical intellectual property. **What You'll Bring to Our Team** Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering + Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in design, with a preference for experience in refrigeration or appliance manufacturing. + Proven leadership capabilities and experience leading projects within a manufacturing environment. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proficiency in using statistical tools and Quality Tools, GD&T, and Locator Assembly Practices. + Excellent oral and written communication skills + Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%. + Experience in thermal system design and refrigeration circuits. + Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate cross-functional teams in a matrix organization. + Expertise in reliability and performance testing of refrigeration systems to ensure energy compliance and customer satisfaction. **Our Culture** At GE Appliances, creativity meets passion and conversations lead to exceptional outcomes and experiences.
