Senior Design Engineer

Eaton’s Commercial & Residential Distribution Solutions Division is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer (R&D) to join our team. The position will be based at our plant in Hodges, South Carolina. The role is offering relocation assistance.

This role is a unique opportunity to develop best-in-class products and features through product research, design, design validation, deployment, and maintenance in accordance with market needs. This role is also responsible for providing technical expertise on busway products. The Senior Design Engineer will be essential in annual engineering growth projects.

 

The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do: Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards to ensure proper product compliance (UL, NEC, CSA, NEMA, IEEE, CANENA)Represent the product line as a technical consultant. Investigate and evaluate opportunities for product development and redesign.Identify technology upgrades and cost reduction opportunities to keep the product line in a competitive position.Product design and development of the special customer design needs, for quick response to the market.Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers during development of products and during upgrade of existing product. Provide direction to production employees on technical issues. Maintain drawings, product structure, and design standards.Work with manufacturing disciplines to design processes as well as products which meet market and customer needs.Lead & facilitate the Certification agency (UL/CSA/ETL) auditsQualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
•    Minimum three (3) years of engineering or design experience within manufacturing 
•    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
•    Experience with product design experience with 3D CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor is Preferred)
•    Experience with DFMEA and engineering problem solving tools
•    Experience with DfM&A & Tolerance stack analysis

Skills:

•    Presents basic knowledge of products and markets, basic understanding of electrical components, and diagrams.
•    Utilizes time management effectively to accomplish daily objectives.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
•    Demonstrates ability to solve problems.
•    Working knowledge of regulatory standards that covers low voltage distribution equipment
•    Team player & ready to work with cross functional teams to achieve common goal
