**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design for Excellence (DfX) Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting peer engineers to ensure their designs comply with best practices in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Cost (DFC), Design for Assembly (DFA), and other DfX disciplines. You will play a critical role in enhancing product quality, optimizing costs, and ensuring manufacturability throughout the design lifecycle.
**Job Responsibilities**
+ Collaborate with design engineers to ensure their designs adhere to DFM, DFC, DFA, and other DfX principles.
+ Conduct design reviews, providing expert guidance on manufacturing processes, cost optimization, and assembly efficiency.
+ Identify and address potential design risks early in the development process to ensure robust and cost-effective solutions.
+ Analyze designs for feasibility, ease of manufacturing, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining product performance and quality standards.
+ Develop and implement DfX guidelines and best practices, ensuring consistent application across projects.
+ Work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to align design outputs with production capabilities.
+ Facilitate workshops and training sessions to promote a DfX mindset within the engineering team.
+ Continuously evaluate and improve internal processes to enhance product design and cost efficiency.
+ Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in DfX and advanced manufacturing processes.
+ Document and communicate design recommendations and technical insights effectively to all stakeholders.
**Background & Skills**
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with 8+ years of experience in product design, manufacturing engineering, or a related role with a strong focus on DfX principles.
+ In-depth knowledge of DFM, DFC, DFA, and other DfX methodologies.
+ Proficiency in design software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess design feasibility and identify areas for improvement.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
+ Proven track record of driving cost reduction and design optimization initiatives.
+ Experience working in a global manufacturing environment is preferred.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
+ Experience with electromechanical components and assemblies.
+ Knowledge of casting, forging, sheet metal, and other manufacturing processes.
+ Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies.
+ Ability to lead technical discussions and present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
