Stantec’s Northwest Transportation group has an immediate need for a full time, highly motivated Senior Design Manager with 15+ years of experience working on mid-size to large transportation projects as well as transit projects. This position is based in Bellevue, WA office.
This is an excellent opportunity to pursue and manage engineering projects using alternative delivery method of varying scale and complexity in Washington. You will oversee pursuits, technical employees, work planning, technical design management and oversight, project delivery, quality management, contract administration, change management, and risk management. Contribute to initiatives to help advance our project design, operations, and business development
Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider
Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards
Lead multi-disciplinary teams on projects from positioning to proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services
Represent Stantec and the project design team as a technical leader
Identify appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives. Manage contract tasks, track, and manage costs and schedule, and implement measures necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management
Grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our team
Develop client relationships to facilitate project activities
Establish, maintain, and promote partnerships in project pursuits
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Marketing skills required
Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of technical and professional staff
Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in a dynamic and energetic environment
Design-Build or other alterative project delivery experience
Education and Experience
Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed in the State of Washington (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive engineering and project management experience on mid to large scale transportation or transit projects
Experience with the role of deputy design manager, design manager, and or quality manager on mid to large scale projects
Experience leading the design and construction support of complex transportation and/or transit projects
Experience developing, negotiating, and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets
Business development experience required
Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
