Senior Designer (Highway Design)
CDR Maguire Engineering has an immediate hiring need for an experienced Senior Designer for our Mechanicsburg, PA location. Job Summary: At the highest level, must have an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and committed effort to performing their job in an ethical and proper manner. This role is responsible for performing/reviewing a wide variety of design and plan presentation functions on multiple projects. Essential Functions: · Prepare contract plans, and sketches utilizing Bentley MicroStation CADD, lnRoads, and OpenRoads and/or MicroDesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D design software. · Assist the Work Group Leader in supervising the efforts of the highway project team. · Perform complex highway design tasks with minimal supervision and guidance. · Interpret field survey data. · Perform/check required calculations, computation of quantities, construction cost, and specifications. · Prepare/Check highway construction details. · Prepare/check design submissions for review agencies and/or client including reports. · Perform other duties as assigned. · Provide support to other offices as needed. OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES: · Travel as required and as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor. · Attend training prerequisites as provided by Company. · Other duties which may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position Requirements Education, Experience and Special Skills Required: · Associate degree or other technical school graduate. · Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a highway design setting. · Attain training prerequisites according to CDR-M schedules. · Knowledge of PennDOT and other clients' design procedures, specifications, and plan presentation format. · Knowledge of highway design and field survey concepts. · Knowledge of CDR-M Design and Office Procedures. · Skilled in using Bentley MicroStation CADD, lnRoads, and OpenRoads and/or MicroDesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D design software. · Knowledge of Client related design and CADD standards. · Knowledge of written communication formats, technical terms, and composition. · Ability to use computer software and other online resources. · Skilled in operating office equipment such as plotter, copy machine, and print machine. · Ability to perform/check less complex highway tasks independently and more complex highway design tasks with supervision. · Ability to communicate with coworkers and clients in a courteous and professional manner. · Ability to work in a team-oriented setting.
