The Role 

Imagine a world where IT infrastructure manages itself.  As a Senior DevOps Engineer for Cloud Infrastructure Engineering and Automation, you'll be making this vision a reality. You will work on high-impact projects, designing and implementing solutions that power the deployment of SAP cloud offerings across multiple cloud environments – from hyperscalers to SAP's own data centers. You will enhance and standardize our services by emphasizing highly automated deployment and operations of cloud infrastructure throughout its entire lifecycle.

 

What you will do:

Drive solutions to production: Take ownership of transforming ideas into production-ready solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and integration with existing operational processes.

Conducting thorough requirement analyses and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and build infrastructure automation solutions that meet business needs and objectives.

Implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing and deployment processes.

Ensure Operational Efficiency. Optimize and ensure the reliability and performance of our infrastructure and automation solutions.

Collaborate and Share Knowledge. Partner with engineering and development teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration, conducting training sessions to share best practices and new tools.

Enhance Security. Implement and maintain security best practices, ensuring the integrity and compliance with the latest security policies.

Ensure business continuity. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to the infrastructure and automation, providing support during incidents and outages, and maintaining proper documentation.

Innovate. Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in DevOps and cloud infrastructure, contributing to the evolution of our automation and orchestration frameworks.

Experience / Role Requirements

You are required to have a Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, along with a solid foundation in infrastructure engineering and automation. Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role in a production environment is essential, specifically requiring 5 to 10 years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).

 

Additional expertise and technical skills encompass, but are not limited to:

Advanced Linux skills; Windows knowledge optional

Strong proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

Solid understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and infrastructure optimization techniques.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a thorough attention to detail.

Experience with central infrastructure services (e.g., DNS, LDAP, NTP, Mail) and network services (e.g., IPv4/6, VPN, Proxies)

Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub and GitLab CI/CD.

Ability to script and automate tasks using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, ELK Stack, Grafana).

Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
