Core Platform Area (CPA) Software & Diagnostics is a function within Technology. It has the ambition to identify and execute on new digital initiatives supporting embedded software handling in tight collaboration with TD/BAs and Group Functions as well as modernize and transform our existing solutions into digital products.
Together with our digital talents, we work on solution design and deliveries to improve business performance and create value at scale for Volvo Group. Included in our mission is to drive an efficient Group Digital & IT interface and Portfolio Management for the TD/BAs and Group Functions.

About the roleAs a Senior DevSecOps Engineer and Tech Lead in the Platform as a Service Team in India, you'll play a critical role in defining and implementing cloud technologies and processes for Vehicle Platform as a Service within the Core Platform Area (CPA) Software and Diagnostics. You will lead the technical aspects of the team, driving the adoption and optimization of cloud technologies across all teams within the CPA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team, guiding the development and implementation of secure cloud solutions.
- Architecture and Design: Define and oversee the architecture and design of cloud-based solutions for Vehicle Platform as a Service, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and Volvo North Star Architecture strategy.
- Security Integration: Ensure that security is integrated into every aspect of the cloud platform development lifecycle, adhering to DevSecOps principles.
- Story Definition: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define user stories and technical requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and priorities.
- Backlog Ownership: Take ownership of the team backlog, prioritizing features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on business value and security considerations.
- Roadmap Realization: Assist in the realization of the roadmap for platform capabilities, which is defined by the Architect and Digital Product Owner (DPO). Ensure the roadmap aligns with strategic objectives and technological advancements.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with a team of cloud technology specialists to ensure the highest level of performance, security, and reliability for Vehicle Platform as a Service.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive initiatives to enhance the efficiency, security, and quality of IT deliveries.
Required Qualifications/SkillsTo excel in this role, we're looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Technical Expertise:
- Prior experience in embedded software development within the automotive sector is highly beneficial.
- Extensive experience in DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure as code.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and ArgoCD.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with cloud technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure services (including Azure hosted databases & VMs and Azure backup solutions).
- Strong understanding in container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and OpenShift.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
Communication and Leadership:
- Advanced communication and presentation skills, experienced in managing stakeholders both globally and locally.
- Proficient in leading teams across various time zones, with a strong grasp of diverse cultural dynamics.
- Embraces a servant leadership style, committed to fostering inclusivity and prioritizing team success and well-being.
Agile and Strategic Proficiency:
- Proficient in agile methodologies (preferably SAFe) and tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps), with a strategic mindset for developing cloud platform roadmaps in alignment with organizational goals.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, focused on delivering high-quality results swiftly and efficiently.
