Senior DEWALT Academy Training Manager

Purpose – WIN WITH THE YOUNGER PROFESSIONALS

Securing the engagement of younger trade professionals is essential for the company's long-term growth. Raising awareness of our company, brands, and products among this demographic is a critical driver for future success. Our strategy involves engaging with apprentices and young trade professionals early in their education and careers to foster brand loyalty and product familiarity. We aim to support college lecturers by offering expert product training that encompasses both safety and operational guidelines, preparing students for their careers as qualified tradespeople. Additionally, obtaining a recognised certification in DEWALT power tools will enhance students' employability upon completion of their training programs. Training and education will be central to achieving this objective.

Key Tasks

Recruitment of the team to deliver the programme in the selected markets, UK/ROI, France and Central Europe.Goal setting and day to day management of the DEWALT Academy Training TeamCollaborate with the Senior Trade & End User Transformation Manager to formulate a training programme aimed at engaging young trade professionals and educational institutions.Support the conducting of thorough research to understand the demographics, prior knowledge, learning preferences, and specific needs of our target audience. Use surveys, interviews and focus groups to gather detailed insights. Working closely with the Senior Trade & End User Transformation ManagerSupport the development of appropriate training materials aligned with the strategy and research feedback whether through practical face-to-face sessions, digital modules on our MYTOOLS Training platform, or video content. This will be achieved through working with the Product Training Development Director, the Group Product Training Manager for DEWALT and the Senior Digital Training Development Manager.Coordinate with the brand team to ensure all training materials adhere to brand guidelines.Establish relationships with technical colleges to become the power tool trainer of choice for our industry,Supporting and providing guidance to Trade Schools ensuring they are compliant with ever changing regulations, e.g dust, noise, vibration etc…The delivery of training to key targeted colleges once the curriculum and training material has been developed. This will be across the identified regions of UK/ROI, France and the CEE regions.Measure all training activity to provide full accountability and ROI.

Competencies and Skills

The pedagogy of trade schools is distinct from that of traditional academic institutions in several way, understanding this is a key competency.

Have specific trade knowledge and experience of working on the “jobsite” as a qualified trades person.

Skills to develop the right level of instructional material suitable to the target audience.

Communication skills for the delivery of training for the established training programmes.

Relationship building skills, to develop strong ties to colleges to accelerate the programme across our region.

Collaborator; be disciplined to work remotely and in person with a multi-cultural team on a day-to-day basis.

Knowledge & Experience

Having experience in the following will be a key advantage;

Be a qualified trades person in one of the following fields. Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing or Concrete work.

Experience of working in a trade school environment.

Must be an English speaker
