Join ENERCON's Nuclear Services Group! We are seeking a Senior Digital Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer / Specialist for our Overland Park, KS or King of Prussia, PA. This role centers on preparing Engineering Change Packages (ECP) to upgrade analog-based I&C systems to modern computer-based ones. Responsibilities include developing documentation, test plans, and specifications, performing engineering analysis, reviewing OEM technical documentation, and providing estimates for budgeting. This role will also provide the opportunity to participate in project meetings to foster relationships and ensure timely execution of engineering activities while mastering regulatory requirements and industry standards for digital I&C systems.
Responsibilities Prepare Engineering Change Packages (ECP) to replace/upgrade obsolete analog-based I&C systems with modern computer-based I&C systems and componentsECP preparation includes: develop/revise associated documentation (e.g., specifications, system descriptions, cabinet/panel layout diagrams, wiring/cable termination diagrams, bill of materials (BOM), part lists, vendor instruction manuals, operations manuals, etc.)Prepare test plans and detailed test instructionsPerform engineering calculations and analysis (e.g., Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Qualitative Assessments (evaluate reliability of computer-based systems), response time analysis, instrument setpoint and uncertainty calculations, instrument drift analysis, etc.)Develop specifications and functional requirements for procurement of computer-based I&C systemsPerform review of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) digital platform hardware and software technical documentation for specified applicationsProvide estimates to Project Management to support budget and schedule developmentParticipate in project meetings, working interactively with colleagues and clients to develop strong relationshipsPlan and implement the timely execution of assigned engineering activitiesBecome proficient in the application and use of the regulatory requirements, industry codes, and standards that are unique to digital I&C systems Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (BSCSE), or related field in Engineering or equivalent education/experience. Minimum of 7 years of I&C engineering experience, with significant experience with computer-based platforms in the nuclear industry (preferred)Minimum of 5 years of experience with development of test plans and detailed test instructionsExperience in the design, installation, and testing of large scale (complete systems) digital control and computer monitoring system upgrades (types of upgrades include replacement of Turbine/Generator Control Systems with DCS platforms, process computer, and cyber security systems)Direct involvement in the entire digital upgrade life cycle including feasibility studies, procurement specifications, design change packages, FAT/SAT test procedure development, installation, and testingWorking knowledge of the application of current regulatory and industry digital upgrade standardsKnowledge of digital hardware and software components commonly used in digital I&C system platforms, such as: Central Processing Units (CPUs), Input/Output (I/O) modules, fiberoptic modules, network interface modules, switch/router modules, servers, and Human System Interface (HSI) equipment such as thin client workstations, touch screen displays, and their applications in digital I&C systemsAn aptitude for technical problem solving, strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication, experience working in a team environment, and a client service focusAbility to manage multiple tasks while working effectively with all levels of staff and managementStrong analytical ability and problem identification/problem resolution skillsRequired to travel between 15-25% of the time; duration of travel length may vary depending on project and client needs, ranging from a few weeks to several months at a time#LI-MB1
Salary Range
The salary range for this full-time position is below. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
