Job Description
SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Business Delivery Excellence (BDx) is a key leadership role within Team ARC (AI Research Center), part of the Clinical Data Science (CDS) organization, which is embedded in the Drug Development division led by the Chief Medical Officer.
This role is responsible for orchestrating the delivery of AI-driven solutions across therapeutic areas and domains, including clinical development, real-world evidence (RWE), safety, regulatory affairs, and biomarkers. The Senior Director will ensure that ARC’s advanced analytics and AI capabilities are effectively aligned with therapeutic area strategies, operational needs, and portfolio priorities. Additionally, this role drives automation initiatives in collaboration with AI Accelerator (AIx) and Product Management and Experiences (PMx) to optimize workflows and enhance scalability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership:
Cross-Domain Integration: Lead the integration of AI solutions across clinical, RWE, safety, regulatory, and biomarker domains to support therapeutic area strategies.
Innovation Advocacy: Promote the adoption of AI and advanced analytics to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency across all supported domains.
Operational Excellence:
Study Support: Oversee the provision of day-to-day support for clinical studies and other research activities, ensuring timely and effective delivery of AI-driven insights.
Ad Hoc Analytics: Manage the response to complex, ad hoc questions requiring data science and AI resources, delivering actionable solutions to stakeholders.
Automation Initiatives: Collaborate with AIx and PMx to identify and implement automation opportunities for repetitive tasks, enhancing productivity and scalability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between ARC and various departments, including clinical development, safety, regulatory affairs, and biomarker teams, ensuring alignment and effective communication.
Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of AI project portfolios, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and therapeutic area needs.
Team Leadership:
Mentorship: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Resource Allocation: Ensure optimal allocation of resources to meet the diverse needs of supported domains and therapeutic areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 12+ years OR Ph.D. with 10+ years in life sciences, data science, or related fields.
Extensive experience in operational leadership within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, encompassing multiple domains such as clinical development, safety, regulatory affairs, and biomarkers.
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in AI and data science applications across various domains, including real-world evidence, safety, regulatory, and biomarkers.
Experience with AI-driven automation and advanced analytics tools.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects in a matrixed environment.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, Ph.D.) in a relevant field.
Knowledge of enabling AI solutions in regulatory and safety contexts.
Familiarity with real-world evidence generation and analysis.
Knowledge of biomarker discovery and validation processes.
