We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Business Development Director, PRT, to join our growing Global Institutional Solutions team. This role will play a critical part in expanding our Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) business in North America, working to lead and structure complex transactions while driving market growth. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in pension consulting and insurance, along with a proven ability to cultivate strong relationships with clients, consultants, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Client Outreach:
Drive PRT business growth by identifying opportunities and building relationships with pension plan sponsors, consultants, and other stakeholders.Create innovative business development strategies to grow the business in collaboration with other BMO partners.Contribute to the development of marketing and sales materials for new business opportunities.Support the bank's "One Client" initiative by collaborating with internal teams to provide outreach programs to existing clients.Deliver tailored presentations and thought leadership to clients, highlighting PRT solutions and benefits.Transaction Structuring:
Lead the development and structuring of innovative PRT solutions, including buy-ins and buy-outs.Collaborate with pricing, legal, and actuarial teams to finalize deal terms that meet client needs and align with the company's objectives.Market Research & Analysis:
Conduct market research to identify trends, emerging opportunities, and competitive dynamics in the Canadian PRT space.Provide detailed reports on sales, market share, and profitability metrics to support decision-making and strategic planning.Relationship Management:
Manage and enhance relationships with external consultants, clients, and reinsurers to build trust and ensure alignment on goals and deliverables.Act as the primary point of contact for reinsurers, managing treaty negotiations and ensuring compliance with agreements.Execute routine tasks (e.g. service requests, transactions, queries, etc.) in accordance with applicable service level agreements.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with internal teams, including actuarial, legal, and investment, to ensure seamless execution of transactions.Partner with marketing teams to develop outreach materials and campaigns tailored to the PRT market.Performance Reporting:
Regularly report on sales performance, deal profitability, and market trends to senior leadership.Develop KPIs to measure the success of business development efforts in Canada and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.Qualifications:
Fellow of Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) or Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA).10+ years of experience in Canadian or US pension consulting, insurance, or financial services.Strong knowledge of pension plans, actuarial principles, and reinsurance arrangements.Proven track record of structuring complex financial transactions and managing high-value client relationships.Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.Proficiency in market research and reporting tools.Familiarity with Canadian pension regulations and market trends.Experience working with reinsurers and managing treaty negotiations.Strong network within the pension consulting and insurance industries.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Actuarial Science, or related field.Salary:
$92,400.00 - $171,600.00Pay Type:

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
