We are seeking a Senior Leader who will be accountable for the end-to-end training of Medical Evidence Generation (MEG) team members to harmonize skillsets and enhance MEG functional expertise across the department. This leader will also oversee / manage alliances and senior relationships across the portfolio with select academic centers. The successful candidate will play a critical role in fostering and maintaining strong partnerships with key academic institutions to advance our collaborative research and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Driving Training Curriculum: Develop and implement a comprehensive training curriculum tailored to the needs of the MEG team, across therapeutic area teams
Skill-Building Sessions: Conduct continuous training sessions on key areas such as concept/protocol development, statistical assumptions, database locks, interpretation of data, negotiation skills, and navigation of internal systems (i.e., CTMS, FastTrak, etc.)
Study Execution Training: Ensure team members are proficient in oversight and execution of study modalities (Medical Affairs Sponsored Trials, Clinical Research Collaborations, and Investigator Sponsored Research)
Support MEG Initiatives: Equip all team members with the necessary skills to support various MEG initiatives, implementation of acceleration efforts, process innovations
Medical Alliance Leadership: Serve as the Point of contact with Institutional Leadership for strategic partnership across BMS’ portfolio
Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders at academic centers
Strategic Planning and performance monitoring: Work closely with internal teams to develop and implement strategic plans for academic partnerships, ensuring mutual benefits and successful outcomes. Monitor and evaluate the performance of partnerships, providing regular updates and reports to senior management. Proactively address issues with site and escalate to BMS leadership as needed.
Personally lead a limited number of high-visibility cross-portfolio projects across the matrix (select cross-TA site engagements)
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical evidence generation, excellent training and leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a cohesive and highly skilled team.
Qualifications & Experience
Advanced scientific degree (e.g. Pharm.D., MD, PhD) with 8+ years of experience; 5+ years clinical trial expertise with a mix of development/clinical and medical
Demonstrated track record of leadership in a complex, matrix environment and as a leader of people
Demonstrated ability to strategically analyze training needs and opportunities across a diverse team
Track record of training and /or developing talent (managerial experiences preferred, but not mandatory)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex partnership dynamics
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills appropriately flexing based on audience; expertly leverages effective communication and negotiation skills to influence decisions
Adeptness at building credibility with external investigators and senior collaborative partners
Displays business and scientific acumen complemented by strong leadership behaviors, authenticity, agility, and an enterprise mindset
Understanding of global healthcare systems and academic settings with a demonstrated ability to lead in ambiguous and changing healthcare/business environments
Successful track record of leading through influence and working across complex, global organizational matrices
HQ-based position with expected travel requirement of 25%
