The Senior Director Global Engineering is responsible for leading Curia’s combined Global Project & Equipment Engineering resources. The leader will work in close concert with the Senior Director Global Capital Projects PMO to deliver Curia’s key capital investments.
The leader will be primarily responsible for managing project & equipment engineering for large capital projects supporting Curia’s strategic initiatives. This includes projects to expand and modernize the manufacturing infrastructure across the network. The incumbent will be responsible to lead the specification, design, purchase and installation of new technologies to increase capacity or efficiency for existing products and for the launch of new products.
This position interfaces with Curia’s manufacturing plants and other departments and functions within Curia’s network. The breadth of support includes technical oversight of Curia’s project & equipment engineering teams located at our manufacturing facilities or assigned to major capital projects.
The Global Project & Equipment Engineering team will provide subject matter expertise (SME) in project engineering, process equipment engineering, utility equipment, facilities, HVAC systems, equipment maintenance and reliability.
This position reports to the Vice President, Engineering & Technical Services and will directly manage the Global Project & Equipment Engineering resources.

Responsibilities
• Lead the Global Project & Equipment Engineering functional resources
• Deliver key strategic capital investments by managing the project engineering effort for major capital projects for the API and DP networks
• Deliver manufacturing technology for multiple major capital projects by providing functional leadership to the combined technical resources assigned to the process equipment effort
• Provide above site leadership and technical oversight to the API and Drug Product plant engineering teams in close concert with the site leadership teams using a matrix approach
• Develop the technical talent of Curia’s site based engineering and technical operations teams in order to deliver robust solutions and on time delivery of Curia’s CDMO API and DP programs
• Provide functional leadership for Curia’s CDMO API and DP programs ensuring timely execution in accordance with client-based project expectations and deliverables
• Strengthen Curia’s technical transfer processes in conjunction with the Global Program Management office
• Provide functional leadership to deliver technical solutions for Curia’s site-based cost improvement programs via improvements in product and process productivity and reliability
• Provide solutions via Curia’s technical network to resolve issues challenging Curia’s ability to delivery finished goods at the appropriate levels of quality and efficiency
• Provide functional leadership for Curia’s internal site to site technical transfer initiatives and capacity and compliance improvement initiatives
Qualifications
• BS in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical or related Engineering Sciences
• Minimum 20 years' experience in pharmaceutical project engineering, process equipment engineering, technical operations, or equivalent engineering management; Experience should include pharmaceutical facilities, utilities and maintenance
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience directly managing technical resources
• Experience managing major capital projects greater than $25M in total investment
• Expertise in capital project management including PMP principles and key project control techniques
• Experience designing, procuring, installing, commissioning and qualifying pharmaceutical process equipment, utility equipment, facilities and control systems
• High level of equipment expertise in the following areas:
o Formulation Processes Equipment including Emulsion, Extrusion, Homogenization and High Shear mixing
o XP and APEX Design
o Solvent Handling and Recovery
o Chemical Synthesis, Fermentation and Isolation Equipment
o Downstream Processes Equipment including UF/DF and Chromatography
o Sterile Filling Processes
o Sterilization and Lyophilization Processes
o CIP Processes
o Critical Utility Systems (WFI, CS, Cleanroom Facilities and HVAC)
o Process Equipment Start-up, Commissioning and Qualification
• Demonstrated aptitude and attitude to become immersed in the resolution of technical challenges and technological advancements
• Proven project management, analytical, problem solving skills
• Strong knowledge of global pharmaceutical regulations
• Excellent relationship management, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to effectively manage and influence cross functional teams
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and achieve significant, complex goals and objectives
• Demonstrated leadership with proven success in challenging status quo

Pay range: $196,000-$244,500/year
