Role Summary:
Overview: The Sr. Director of Global Finance and Strategic Planning will develop and lead a team to provide financial and business support, enabling data-driven decision-making to enhance company performance. This role will focus on three key areas:
1. Stewardship of the Global FP&A and Strategic Planning Process
2. Commercial Business Process Support, including initiative tracking, ROI assessments, and Business Development efforts
3. Business Support for global overhead functions
This role will play a key part in supporting the company’s core business processes, including long-term strategic and operational planning, quarterly forecasting, and monthly business reviews. It will provide leadership with timely, actionable insights to drive decision-making and performance. The role will partner with finance leads across North America, Operations, and global markets to identify key business drivers, develop performance scorecards, and create analytical tools to measure results and drive corrective actions as needed. Additionally, this role will serve as a strategic business partner to commercial and operational functions, overseeing the strategic planning process and ensuring the successful execution of key business initiatives. This position requires close collaboration with the CFO, COO, and other senior leaders to identify and capitalize on critical opportunities for strategy execution.
The ideal candidate will possess strong business and financial acumen, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across multiple geographies in a complex and fast-paced environment. They will be expected to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and influence skills, partnering with business leaders while also challenging them when necessary. This individual will balance their functional reporting relationship with finance by ensuring consistent support and active engagement, driving alignment and delivering impactful results across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Process Stewardship
Analysis of actual results against Budget, Forecast, and Prior Year ensure consistency of all Reporting Requirements from functions and operating units
Review materials from Business units and synthesize the key messages Summarize key findings (i) as basis for action plans to improve results, (ii) as input into next Forecast or Outlook Strategic Planning & Execution- Support CFO/COO to help lead strategy effort and Long Term Strategic Plan Process with integrated initiative tracking; aligning with key finance partners to develp business models and metric identification/scorecarding Lead the long-term strategic planning process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and market trends. Track progress of strategic initiatives, providing updates and adjusting strategies as needed in collaboration with the COO and other key stakeholders. Partner with business to assess the effectiveness of strategies and to track corrective action plans where necessary.M&A and Business Development Support
Provide analytical support (to CFO) for M&A and business development efforts, including maintaining target lists, and communications with banks regarding potential acquisition targets.Operational Cost Management & Collaboration
Partner with functional leaders in HR, Finance, Legal, and IT to monitor, track, and forecast operating costs, driving performance across all functions. Support HR in managing compensation models and ensure proper financial recording of bonuses and equity compensation.Cost Excellence & Operational Efficiency
Drive a culture of cost excellence by partnering with business finance leads to develop and integrate platforms for monitoring and reporting on operational excellence initiatives.Earnings Preparation and Investor Relations
Provide analytical support for quarterly earnings preparation, aligning key questions and insights with the business to support the VP of Investor Relations and CFO.People Leadership
Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration, coaching, and skill growth in a matrixed organization.Core Competencies & Skills:
Experience: Minimum 15 years in senior finance leadership within a global finance organization, with deep FP&A expertise in complex, multi-location environments. Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication, with advanced presentation skills. Analytical Rigor: Strong strategic thinking, financial analysis, and business evaluation skills. Influence & Leadership: Proven ability to influence stakeholders and challenge the status quo respectfully, building strong relationships across the business. Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and develop a team through collaboration and coaching in a matrix organization. Technical Expertise: Proficient in financial reporting systems, preferably HFM and HPL.Working Relationships:
Report directly to the CFO. Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across ELT, COO, and Finance Leadership Team. Work closely with HR, Legal, and IT on key initiatives. Occasional travel may be required.
The salary range for this position is $208,000-.$312,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
