Senior Director, National Accounts (Emisar) - Remote
Title: Senior Director, National Accounts Location: Brisbane, CA/Remote About Us: Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA), is a late-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Position Summary: Vera Therapeutics is looking for dynamic talent to join our team. We're seeking a Senior Director, National Accounts to join our Access and Value Team. Responsible for sales in Market Access in Medicare and Commercial channels. Prioritizes, directs and coordinates all strategy and tactics within these channels for the specified area. Responsible for adding value to the company by maximizing business opportunities in all areas of responsibility. Responsibilities: * Design and implement strategic account management planning for Managed Care and PBM accounts. * Assess and develop individual plans of action for each customer segment. * For Managed Care Organizations - Identify opportunities and threats to current levels of reimbursement with the goal of maximizing product availability while maintaining or improving fiscal liability. * Lead account responsibility for major accounts in each of the major trade classes - Managed Care, specifically focused on Emisar GPO, Optum Rx PBM, United Healthcare, and plans under the Optum Rx affiliated clients. * Set objectives and negotiate market position for product(s) across all target payer accounts to maximize appropriate reimbursement status. * Establish relationships with key decision-makers (VP or Director of Contracting, Medical Directors, etc.). * Monitor and analyze national and regional healthcare policy trends, reimbursement changes, and payer decision-making processes (Commercial, Medicare). * Work with HEOR or Medical Affairs teams to ensure adequate market access with key customers through clinical value messaging or outcomes-based discussions. * Advise and consult with Marketing Strategy Lead in developing formulary kit content for unique managed care customers, tools that communicate our brand value propositions, and pre-launch and launch activities to achieve full product stocking and distribution of Vera Therapeutics products throughout the US marketplace. * Direct the development of contract reimbursement strategies, guidelines, contracting templates, and performance management to ensure objectives and utilization audits are performed regularly. * Attend all major customer meetings, conventions, and trade shows, with specific objectives for the Vera Therapeutics Access Team. * Complete training objectives for Market Access as assigned. * Develop strong understanding within the Home Office staff of how assigned organizations impact the US marketplace (commercial insurers, GPOs, Managed Medicaid, Exchanges, ACOs, IDNs, etc.). * Add value to Vera Therapeutics products by assisting Field personnel with Medical Policy and Reimbursement. * Work with Trade and Specialty teams on distribution network within assigned plans and understand SPP providers for the plan. * Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing team of market access professionals and deliver on corporate objectives within the Access and Value team. * Work with contract analytics to develop a framework for evaluating potential agreements. * Work with contract analytics to identify analyses that drive customer insights and deepen customer understanding. * Create quarterly reports highlighting total financial value benefiting the organization and customer, inclusive of all rebates, fees, discounts, etc. * Utilize GPO, PBM, and portal data to update Senior leadership on performance and category trends. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred. * Minimum of 12+ years' experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry. * 10+ years of Market Access / Account Management experience, including product launch or line extension experience. * Proven ability to build relationships with executive-level decision-makers at large Managed Care or Specialty Pharmacy organizations. * Complex contract negotiation and management experience. * Previous Field Sales, Sales Management, Government Affairs, Specialty, and Managed Care experience preferred; experience in evaluating and balancing strategic considerations between business finance, policy, government, and public affairs. * Demonstrated excellence in business plan development, strategic planning, P&L management, contract proposal development, negotiation, analysis, and developing strategic alliances. * Outstanding leadership in managing high-performance teams, preferably field-based sales, therapeutic, or customer marketing organizations. * Outstanding relationship-building skills, communication, and entrepreneurial creative skills necessary to lead the team to competitive leadership. * Strong business experience, preferably in specialty, managed markets, and government healthcare policy environment. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $237,000 - $275,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geography, qualifications, skills, and experience. At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
