Senior Director, Operations

Position Summary: 

The Senior Director of Operations leads our Minneapolis and St. Paul manufacturing sites. Minneapolis, our corporate headquarters site and our future Reagents Focused Factory, manufactures and ships recombinant proteins, GMP proteins, antibodies, ELISA kits, Luminex assays, cell culture media, and hematology controls. St. Paul, our state-of-the-art GMP manufacturing facility, produces GMP proteins. Together, Minneapolis and St. Paul supply customers to support their academic research, bio-pharma drug discovery, quality control, and more.  

The scope of this role includes leading our manufacturing, process engineering, materials, and facilities teams (~250 team members, ~$400M revenue, 850K sqft facilities). The role reports to the VP of Operations & Supply Chain and has a dotted line (as a matrix partner) to 3 Divisions. The role includes a growth component as Minneapolis & St. Paul currently have high growth products, they are expected to become enterprise focused factories, and Minneapolis serves as our corporate headquarters. 

As the leader, you will be accountable for creating and executing a strategy that both meets the needs of the businesses you serve, and meets the needs of the broader enterprise-level operational strategy. Within that, you will be responsible for building a high-performance team, for building an outstanding culture, for executing on short & long-term KPI’s (safety, quality, delivery, cost), and for building & executing an operational site strategy for your 2 sites with a high sense of urgency, with effective collaboration with your cross-functional partners, and with strong communication with your team, your peers, and with senior leadership. 

The ideal candidate is strategic, can identify the critical few, has a bias to action, and has a history of consistently achieving strong quantifiable results. He/she is regarded as a team player, is called selfless, is straightforward/non-political, and consistently develops/mentors the team. The ideal candidate excels in developing an engaged culture and a highly capable team. Operationally, the ideal candidate will leverage his/her prior experience in leading complex & technical manufacturing across multiple product lines and will leverage his/her strength in structured problem solving to identify and execute effectively on the critical few. 

  

Key Responsibilities:
