Job Description

The Senior Director of Patient Access Services oversees the Patient Assistance Program (PAP) and AbbVie Access Support (AAS) teams that provide empathetic services to help patients optimize their treatment journey. This role will provide leadership and management oversight of multiple teams that engage and support patients across the AbbVie portfolio. Collectively, these teams are comprised of >1,000 FTEs and contractors across AbbVie and vendor partners. The leader works closely with other cross-functional teams (Commercial, R&D, brand marketing, marketing analytics, media, strategic planning, marketing excellence, IT, and others), and directs outside agencies, and third-party partners to drive program performance. This position sits on the AbbVie Endocrinology Inc. leadership team and is a key contributor to the organization’s performance. 

Responsibilities Include:

Key stakeholder and trusted advisor with Commercial leaders and drives, develops and executes brand strategies for AEI. Guides teams to ensure complete strategic and executional alignment to guarantee an optimal patient experience.  Manages relationships with multiple PAP and AAS teams with an eye to driving patient experience balanced with program efficiencies. Optimizes and fortifies alignment and integration within the newly centralized patient engagement teams to achieve seamless collaboration and outcomes. Manages program needs, performance, cost, and outcomes to better allocate resources appropriately. Accountable for the success of the programs as well as compliance and monitoring oversight to comply with the quality system and program guidelines. Leads the strategy to consistently monitor performance and conduct analyses for program updates and innovations. Demonstrates and instills “the patient is first” empathetic mindset to evolve consistent focus at the ground level. Optimizes efforts to improve the organization's overall strategy, direction, and operational processes and tools. Direct program content and tactical alignment to the patient journey and ensure that the programs approach both strategically and tactically to the priority business leverage points. 
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or doctorate degree in business, health sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering or related field required. Graduate degree, with clinical, operational and training experience with a MS, MHA or MBA preferred or equivalent work experience. PharmD with an MBA and experience in specialty pharmacy highly preferred.Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products. 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with 7+ years in an operational, business and people management capacity. Knowledge of retail/specialty/mail order pharmacy operations, applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as HIPAA policies and procedures. Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills required. Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
