Job Description

Team Summary 

A unique opportunity exists to join Visa and the INSA (India and South Asia) cluster, one of Asia Pacific's, and the world's, fastest growing commerce and digital payments ecosystems. Strong economic growth, rapid social and demographic change, proactive payments regulation and rapid acceleration of digital commerce make these markets some of the most exciting in the world. 

The Strategy and Business Transformation function plays a key role in shaping Visa’s medium and long-term strategy in the markets, solving country-specific opportunities and challenges, in partnership with executives and business leaders across Visa’s organization. Initiatives would include but not be limited to market strategy, product strategy, multi-year planning, and organic / inorganic growth opportunities. The team is responsible for developing thought leadership and capturing emerging trends in the payments industry, cross pollinating best from INSA to the world and vice versa. 

The team also supports cross-functional teams in executing that strategy and ensures successful ongoing business operations. The team partners with corporate functions within Visa to develop and enhance best practices leveraging the full suite of expertise that the business requires, such as Marketing, Legal, Finance, Technology, Risk, People, Client Services and Communications. 

What a Senior Director, Strategy - INSA does at Visa: 

The Senior Director will be a member of Visa's INSA Strategy & Business Transformation team. As a strategist, the individual will work with and support key areas of the business – both across functions and geographies – in conducting analysis to support development of strategies in alignment with the regional and global priorities. This role will also support cluster business planning needs, monitoring of market developments across countries and development of timely response to emerging trends and opportunities. The position will be based in Mumbai with some travel expected. 

The Senior Director role in the INSA Strategy & Transformation team supports the INSA Head of Strategy & Transformation in the formulation, analytical review, preparation and communication of the INSA strategy and associated Sub Cluster and Market Strategy plans. A typical effort may entail working closely with senior stakeholders to understand and logically structure the problem, develop hypothesis, work with cross-functional teams to validate the hypothesis, develop strategy to address the problem, and develop recommendations and execution plan to present to the INSA & Asia Pacific (AP) leadership team. The Senior Director is expected to lead end-to-end strategy efforts independently or with a small team of analysts depending on the scope and complexity of the effort. The strategy efforts can range from developing country strategies to developing multi-year plans for the cluster, addressing emerging competitive and economic model developments, managing commercial response to market changes, developing go-to-market plans for new solutions, and supporting strategic investment assessments.

In close alignment with the cluster, regional and global leadership team, you will be instrumental in defining, planning and executing long-term strategic priorities that will set Visa (encompassing all our segments, channels and geographies) on a path to create even greater value for Visa’s shareholders. 

Qualifications

What you will need for this role 
 
We are looking for an individual with a structured mindset, curiosity about the payments industry, is results-driven, and client focused. As an ideal candidate, you should have: 

15+ years of experience in leading strategy projects at top-tier Management Consulting firms or in a Corporate Strategy group in a multinational environment 

Pro-active and effective communicator, experienced in presenting information to all levels and with ability to facilitate group discussions and debate 

Ability to lead cross-functional teams and proven experience of project management 

Strong interpersonal and execution skills 

Strong analytical and strategic acumen 

Excellent presentation and verbal and written communication skills 

Able to manage work in different time zones effectively 

Ability to be recognized as thought leader 

Ability to influence the organization in order to make strategy happen 

Professional, confident and outgoing with the ability to maintain good communication with wide internal and external audiences 

Team player possessing a strong drive to add value to the business direction 

Highly numerate with attention to detail and ability to structure and analyze databases and strong knowledge of financial modelling, scenario-building and analysis 

 
What will also help 

Financial Services / FinTech / Payment industry experience would be a distinct advantage 

Broad understanding / experience in financial services and / or payments a plus
