Alexion is poised to become the preeminent global leader in rare diseases by 2027, with ambitions to expand its reach to over 100 countries and introduce five new medicines by 2030. The Head of Global S&OP & Strategy will be pivotal in leading and optimizing the Global Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP) at an enterprise level within AstraZeneca's Rare Disease unit. This essential role aims to synchronize demand forecasts, production capabilities, and inventory levels to efficiently and cost-effectively meet customer demands. The ideal candidate will spearhead strategic initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and implement best practices to enhance supply chain performance. Additionally, the successful candidate will define a long-term Supply Chain strategy that maintains our competitive edge and continuously delivers for our patients, customers, and the environment.
Accountabilities
• Lead all aspects of the Global S&OP process at the enterprise level across AstraZeneca's Rare Disease unit.
• Establish and supervise important metrics to improve S&OP efficiency continuously. Ensure alignment across functions (SC, Operations, Finance, GMMA, Commercial etc) which will enable our strategic objectives.
• Lead the planning and development of the S&OP annual calendar, ensuring that key milestones and initiatives are identified, prioritized, and aligned with business objectives.
• Ensure effective preparation, execution, and adherence to global financial planning processes linked to S&OP, such as Long-Term Planning (LTP), Medium-Term Planning (MTP), and Phased Budget (PB).
• Facilitate S&OP meetings and drive consensus on demand and supply plans with the associated R&O’s.
• Develop a long-term strategy for global E2E supply chain encompassing sustainability, improvements and evolution for the future which are aligned with company goals.
• Analyse market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and risks. External collaborator engagement including identifying partners for benchmark purposes.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement across the E2E supply chain to improve competitiveness.
• Collaborate with AO collaborators to align improvement activities with the Accelerate to 2030 long-term strategy in Alexion Operations. Create visibility of new enterprise ideas and opportunities to enhance AO Strategy from E2E perspective.
• Foster a culture of integrity and inclusion, ensuring team members feel valued for their diversity and contributions to Alexion.
Essential Skills/Experience
• Strong collaborator management and influencing skills, particularly with VP-level executives.
• Over 12 years of progressive experience in leadership roles within the supply chain and future supply chain design.
• Proven experience leading Executive Sales & Operational Planning and/or Coordinated Business Planning at the enterprise level.
• Demonstrated expertise in supply chain process re-engineering and project management.
• Consistent track record of implementing lean practices.
• Experience in leading strategic-level transformation and organisational change initiatives.
• Outstanding business partnership and collaboration skills to ensure a comprehensive enterprise view.
• Experience leading global teams and initiatives with significant impact within the life sciences sector.
• Ability to work effectively with abstract situations that have cross-functional and enterprise impact.
• Proactively anticipate market factors influencing future supply chain strategies and develop plans to address them.
• Confirmed ability to lead and influence senior collaborators to achieve cross-functional alignment while balancing operational requirements with strategic planning.
Desirable Skills/Experience
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; a Master's Degree is preferred.
• Supply Chain Certification, such as APICS, is desirable.
