JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Director of Video Ad Technology is accountable for the delivery of all video advertising technology programs and projects that support the key revenue functions within FOX Ad Sales. In this role, the Senior Director of Video Ad Technology will combine exceptional delivery expertise with strong management skills and technical knowledge to ensure consistent execution of an ambitious roadmap. Working in partnership with engineering teams they will manage execution and priorities to bring about change in a dynamic environment.

A broad understanding of the streaming business and technology functions, as well as the software delivery lifecycle, will be critical for this role.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Work collaboratively across various functions to identify how technology can support revenue-generating initiatives and shape the video ad technology roadmap for FOX Ad Sales accordingly.

Take accountability for the delivery of end-to-end video advertising technology solutions, ensuring all features, big and small, have the appropriate level of governance, planning, execution and accuracy in place. Dependencies and touchpoints both within technology and business teams are clearly articulated and tracked – avoiding surprises.

Establish senior-level governance across technology & business teams as appropriate, to manage competing priorities, incorporate new asks and capabilities, and ensure ongoing alignment between the business and technology teams at FOX.

Work with engineering teams across the organization, and the Technology PMO, to ensure that the committed roadmap and pipeline are well articulated, understood and managed against available capacity.

In addition to maintaining medium and long-term plans, ensure the right forums are in place to support tactical “on the ground” decision-making, keeping control of the day-to-day.

Lead a team of product managers, focused on the day-to-day running of the end-to-end projects and programs within the portfolio. Coach and mentor the team to ensure consistently high performance across the portfolio.

As part of the Ad Technology leadership team, strive for continuous improvement in our processes and procedures – propose and implement changes to ensure a productive and efficient organization, in partnership with the wider team.

Partner closely with other leaders to ensure that business initiatives that impact the product experience are managed consistently and coherently, handling any contention that may arise.

Ensure that the architecture teams are appropriately involved in the initiation and shaping of programs, coordinating input from the business teams to drive the solution definition.

Work with resource managers and department heads as required to ensure appropriate resources and capacity are available, helping manage view of supply & demand, and raising risks early for contention.

Ensure regular reporting of status across all programs and projects, establishing the right controls within the team to ensure accurate status, pro-active risk management and robust plans.

Ensure quality is considered throughout delivery, working with QA and trials teams to ensure outputs are thoroughly tested and proven before deployment to customers and handed over to support.

Ensure effective communication both internally and externally to the video ad technology team.

Ensure that the team is clear on goals and objectives. Act as the first point of escalation, providing assistance and guidance throughout the execution.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

7+ years experience in an engineering management role, including 5+ years executing complex, multi-work stream projects.

Demonstrable experience in agile software delivery, including in-depth knowledge of the full software delivery lifecycle, from initial idea through deployment.

5+ years experience in managing a digital video ad technology ecosystem.

In-depth knowledge and expertise in executing complete SSAI & CSAI lifecycle 

Experience working with GAM (i.e. IMA SDK).

Advanced knowledge in ad serving technology and programmatic landscape (e.g. Prebid, APS, etc.).

Experience managing employees and delegating tasks.

Strong understanding of HTTP request/response cycles, including headers, status codes, and caching mechanisms.

Proficiency in using Chrome DevTools to debug network activity, inspect ad requests, and resolve rendering or latency issues.

Hands-on experience with Charles Proxy or similar tools to intercept, analyze, and debug network traffic for ad delivery troubleshooting.

Familiarity with GitHub or similar version control platforms for managing codebases, reviewing pull requests, and collaborating with engineering teams.

Ability to interpret and debug RESTful APIs, including crafting and testing API requests using tools like Postman or cURL.

Knowledge of OpenRTB (Open Real-Time Bidding) specifications, including key objects, attributes, and integration best practices for DSPs, SSPs, and ad exchanges.

Proficiency in reading and troubleshooting JSON payloads associated with programmatic ad transactions.

Application development

Experience in software engineering or development

Ability to implement and debug beacons (client and server-side) for ad campaign analytics.

Knowledge of ad decisioning, floor price optimization, and other advanced concepts in programmatic auctions.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $185,500.00-260,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
